Discover FICO is wildly incorrect

I just got my Discover IT card about 6 weeks ago.  The FICO score they have is 8 weeks old and 50 points below what it was when I applied.  Now I'm actually pretty suprised I got a 4K starting limit with them, but will this affect CLI's?  Or will they catch up to what my actual score is?  Just a side note, I got the Amex BCE card the same day, and they have the correct FICO on file (and only gave me a 2k SL!)

Around the time of your first statement, Discover will start showing you your TU FICO score every month (for me, around the same time of the month I activated my card). The next soft pull should be up-to-date.

Re: Discover FICO is wildly incorrect

It will be updated every month 3-5 days before each statement close but doesn’t show the updated score online until 1-2 days before statement close.

The score they provide with their cards is TransUnion. Which will be different then the score they used in your lending decision.
I believe Discover uses EQ for lending decisions before card membership. That’s who they pulled in my experience.

Outdated most likely but not “wildly incorrect”.

Keep in mind that Discover uses Equifax FICO8 and sometimes Experian during app and then provides TransUnion as their free score to card members on a monthly basis which likewise is what they use to monitor your account and for granting CLIs. Hence, the discrepancy in the scores you saw when app’ing.

Ideally, you always want them to have posted the latest statement and updated to current score before hitting the luv button preferably the first Monday after as DPs around here suggest a better outcome.

Re: Discover FICO is wildly incorrect

From personal experience, my monthly FICO score on this forum mirrors what Discover posts within 1-2 points (TU daily/weekly variance). I should note that I've had my Discover account for years so the Fico score is fairly routine rather than following an application score. - my 3 CRA scores are also fairly consistent without big swings..

Discover provides you with a TU FICO 8 score, where Amex provides you with an EX FICO 8 score.  Looking at these two scores, neither is "incorrect."  They are scores drawn using different bureau data, that's all.  Trying to compare them would be like comparing apples to oranges.

Also, comparing scores taken at different times is apples to oranges as well... scores change every day as balances change and accounts age, but most free FICO score sources only pull once a month, and if you use two, probably not the same day of the month.
