Thank you.
Glad to help
Pretty sure I screwed myself somehow. Not trying to highjack my own thread, but I applied for the Chase Sapphire:
"Here's what you can expect next: We'll let you know of our decision through U.S. mail within the next 30 days. Please don't resubmit
this application while waiting for our decision. If we approve your application, we'll send your card and other important information to you by U.S
mail. Once you receive your card, call the number on the sticker right away so you can take
advantage of everything your card has to offer. If we don't approve your application, we'll send you a letter explaining why.
Thank you for applying for a Chase credit card."
Well, I feel pretty deflated now. Now I'm too afraid to request a CLI from Amex. Ugh.
@Anonymous wrote:Great. . . I went ahead and uploaded the necessary documents. Now they are requesting I check back within five-seven days for review. They gave me a Check Status link. This has to be the longest time ever for a credit decision. . . I guess I picked the wrong card expecting a quick acceptance.
It will not beat my Chase Freedom app which took nearly 4 weeks and I also had to fax my SSN card with ID - Good luck ![]()
@Anonymous wrote:Is this normal? Should I consider this a soft rejection? This seems odd to me. Anyone with previous experience? They want me to upload the documents. What else will they ask for? LOL. I was expecting an easy acceptance (FAKO - 769), but I'm afraid it will hurt me not to finish the process, but I've never been asked for these documents before! WHAT?
When I applied for my Discover (Student card), I had to upload my student schedule, and if I remember correctly, my driver's license, even though I've lived at this address for over 8 years, and I had 3 other credit accounts on my credit report (BB&T, since closed, American Express and Barclays). I wouldn't worry about it. Discover was definitely way more difficult to get approved for than any of my other accounts (BML, BB&T, AMEX, Barclays, and a CU account). But now that I'm in, I like them a lot.
Good news! Just called the number online, and got approved for a $4,500 CL! The guy said he received my documents, but he didn't really need him. I asked him for my credit score and he said he couldn't tell me except that it was "really good."
I'm still trying to figure out why Chase Sapphire didn't give me an instant approval yesterday. . . .
Is $4,500 pretty good?
@Anonymous wrote:Is this normal?
Doesn't happen to everyone but it's not abnormal for any creditor to verify data.
@Anonymous wrote:but I'm afraid it will hurt me not to finish the process
You'd have the hard pull and a rejection. That's really it.
@Anonymous wrote:This has to be the longest time ever for a credit decision. . .
Nope. There's definitely worse. Have patience with anything credit related.
@Anonymous wrote:I've been here for eight months, but I'm unaware of the time lines for update. You know, my initial AMEX CL was $7,500. . . . and that was over a year ago.
Read the 3x CLI thread?

You can always call to find out.

Good is subjective regardless of topic. That's your determination to make. Everyone's credit isn't the same. For some it would be an amazing credit line. For others it could be average. For yet others it could be a toy limit. There are those with both higher and lower limits with Discover.
I know I'm joining late, but Discover asked me for my SS and Utility when I applied. They called me back 5 days later and approved me. But mine was a bit different because my EQ file was missing information when I applied. But they were just as everyone else has said...."Verifying"
