I got the Discover It back in 03/13, with a $500 limit. I used it for a while then got my Chase Freedom. The IT has since been CLI to $800.00 but that is pretty low..I dont want to close it because Discover is a really good company, but should I call in April and request a CLI to match my Freedom or possibly more?

You can call anytime. They will let you know if they can do it with a SP or HP and you can cancel the request if you don't want the HP

Back at the end of 2009, I got a Discover-More card. Discover-IT did not exist back then. I received a CL of $500. I also received my Citi card at the same time and it came with a $2500 CL. Which shocked me since I had zero income, I was a college student and it was my first credit card. Anyways, I used that card mostly. Rarely used either of them, but when I did, I used the Citi card.
Fast forward to summer of 2013, I still had the Disover-More card and it was still at $500. My citi card was now at $5000. So I decided to click the CLI buttton online and it bumped me to $5,000. Then I called and converted it to the Discover IT.
You should have got more than just a $300 bump, but also they want to see you using the card more often and they want you to have it for a while before making a significant CLI.

The Discover CLI button is a SP, right?

SP yes but It will notify you if a HP is needed at which time you can cancel the request (CLI)
What pops up for you guys when you click the online luv button? All I've ever seen is an error message telling me to call. Discover's been fine with upping me through CLIs but they've both been HPs, 7 and 16 months ago.
OP, it's a good card. If you're not holding off on HPs for a better car or house or planned CC apps, it's worth a shot to ask for a HP CLI if you don't get offered a SP. INQs are pretty harmless after 1 year and lost forever after 2.

Yes, my CLI with Discover when I went from $500 to $5,000 was a soft pull. It was an automatic approval when I filled out the form online proceeding the CLI button. Then In November, I made a stupid decision and tried to CLI again on there, and it said that you will be notified in a few days. That ended up being a hard pull and was denied a CLI.

Thanks wade. My UTL's too high right now but once these 0% periods end I'll try for another.
