Just applied online for the DISCOVER More card, and was instantly approved with a screen that said they needed additional information and to call a 800 number. After calling, they just verbally verified my income stated, and other identifying questions, and then congratulated me with an initial credit limit of $3000. He asked if this limit would suffice and I said yes, and he said I would be eligle to increase that after 6 Months.
This pretty much round out what I need, and I'm going to now let my cards age for the next year or so. ![]()
Currently puts me my wallet at ( in order from oldest to most recent) :
- Capital One $1500 Limit ( 2006)
- Sears Mastercard $1500 Limit (2007)
- PayPal Extras $3500 Limit (2007)
- Local CU - $2000 Limit (2010)
- AMEX Zync - NPSL Charge Card (2011)
- Citi Aadvantage Select AMEX - $5,000 Limit (2011) (Received 30,000 Bonus Miles w/ Approval)
- Discover MORE - $3,000 Limit ( Just now, 2011)
Current score are right in the 690's if anyone was wondering.
I think I have a good mix of rewards, so I don't see a need for any more apps in the next 1-2 years, hopefully these cards can grow with me in terms of limit increases...
I think the only card that I've wanted but have been declined in the past 3 months for, is the Blue Cashback Preferred from AMEX....I guess I'll just need to work on my scores for that one, otherwise I'm pretty happy.
Congrats! Nice starting CL. Seems like there's been a recent spate of Discover approvals on this site!
Congratulations!!
Hi austin21 I would like to know why you have not ask for a credit limit increase in your sears card? I open my sears mastercard en Feb. and they gave me 1500 and I just call few minutes ago and ask for 5000 and BAM yes your request has been approved,
Hey Julio87
Well, when I first got that Sears Card the limit was $5,000 back in 2007....then they cut it down to $1500 during the whole 2008 economy issues...so when that happened I called them up to ask why and they said it was because I had a small balance on there and I wasn't using it...I asked if I could put it back up to 5k and they said a request could be put in, but they'd have to do a hard inq. and I would get a call back stating the status...I decided it wasn't worth it since I wasn't using the card, so I've had it at $1500 since around 2008, and only use it for larger purchases such as new tires, or a TV every now and then just to get the 0% financing...I guess it wouldn't hurt to give them a call now that I think about it though.
When you called for your increase did they do a hard inq?
Thanks Julio!
Well I call and ask them if it was going to be a hard inq. and they told me yes but that has been more than a month and no hard inq. is in my credit report and then I saw that they did a soft inq so if I was you I would ask for it again for the 5000 credit line OK
