I’ve been working on whittling down my last three cards that are carrying balances, with Discover being the highest of the three. Because it still has zero interest on purchases, I used it to make an unexpected (necessary) $2k purchase this month knowing that I would pay that prior to the statement date. I made the regular payment prior to the due date, always making sure to pay more than minimum. My statement cut date is 10/27. Yesterday, I made a payment for $2,000. It showed “pending”. I woke this morning and it still showed pending. I just called customer services and the very nice customer service lady informed me that any payment that Discover receives on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will not post until Monday morning after 8am. HOLY FICO, I did not know this. That’s right, boys and girls, my statement will cut at midnight tonight, but my payment made yesterday will not reflect at all. I’m totally bummed. I know that utilization has no memory at the CRA’s, but still....I’ve been so careful and watching my utilization fall ever month has been my joy as I wait for my last two baddies to disappear.

Don’t sweat it. Once the payment posts, call them back and ask for an off-cycle report. They’re great about doing that, and it’ll reflect the following day on your reports.
I had no idea they would do that! Thanks so much for the info. That just took a weight off!
