Not really new... I've done this a few times already (since Nov when I got my card). I friggin love it! Also, your friend gets $50 too.
The trouble is your friend only gets the $50... which meanst the total payout is $100, which is less than the $150 your friend would get if they app'd on their own. So it's really a question of what's more important. Personally, I told my my friends about both offers and they all picked the $50/$50 one. Yay for me!
