Discover balance posting

Recently with my Discover It card I've noticed that it generally takes the maximum possible time for balances to post when paying at non-online stores. Is this a typical thing with new Discover users or just an overall expectation with credit cards? New to all of this so trying to learn as much as I can.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Yeah they show up as pending immediately and sometimes take 3+ days to finally process.

1. Welcome to the forum.

2.  It's got nothing to do with your being a new Discover user.  These things vary. There is no overall expectation. Sometimes the same charge with the same card will post in a day; on another occasion the same charge on the same card will take 3 or 4 days.

I appreciate the info on that, I figured it was just something that varied but wasn't sure. Thank you!

@BioRadar

Welcome. Also vendors like Amazon, if you let's say order 10 items in one purchase, you may get multiple pending charges for smaller amounts on different dates because you get charged when the items ship out since they all come from various locations.
