That's your call to make based on your own needs, priorities and preferences.  If you have no use for the card and you're not the type to keep every possible tradeline open then myabe you didn't make mistake.  If you didn't consider everything that matters to you before closing then you might have made a mistakle.  It's too late at this point anyway.  Acceptance really hasn't been an issue for me but YMMV.  You know where you shop and what cards they accept.

Ive had mines for about 8 months and the only time it has not been accepted was while eating at Pollo Tropical.

i wouldn't close a Discover Card but that is just my opinion

Thank You all ......if Discover were smart they would reduce their Merchant Fee and charge exactly the same Fee Visa and MasterCard charges and that way at the end, They would make even more money than they do now because then Merchants Worldwide would have NO problem accepting Discover the same way they do Visa and MasterCard...............The Chase Freedom Visa is what Discover iT wishes it could be  ..........Another thing, if you only had a Discover Card in your Wallet and you had NO place to stay, Good luck finding a Hotel that is willing to accept Discover, You would end up Homeless..........Make NO mistake, There is a huge reason why The Biggest Retail Store in the World "Walmart" Dumped Discover for MasterCard like a Hot Potato....

This is all nonsense. There is obviously something else behind closing the card, which is fine.

I beleive Wal-Mart wanted more money and Discover wasn't budging....MasterCard doesn't care, they just want their name on a card

In my area (midwest), Discover is more commonly accepted than AMEX. Most hotels around me also accept Discover. I would have kept it and SD it, but to each their own!

If a hotel won't take AMEX, I won't stay there. AMEX is the easiest at chargebacks for unsatisfactory stays.
