i had The Discover iT Credit Card for 5 months until i closed the account recently and i Called many times for different reasons and Discover NOT even Once asked me for, "The last 4 digits of my account number" Or for "The last 4 digits of my Social Security Number" Or for "my Mother's Maiden name" Or for "My date of birth", Everytime i called, Discover would say, "i have your account in front of me, How may i help you" and NOT even once in 5 months i had to proof that i am "The account's owner and NOT an Impostor"................What do you guys think of Discover's Security???...

LOL , Yeah, when i applied, Discover asked me a million questions but then after that when i called they never asked me anything, if Discover were a Store Card i would NOT think is a big deal but Discover is a Major Credit Card and for them to be sooo trusting like that is disturbing to say the least...

Well they have your phone number, so it would mean someone was calling from YOUR phone. Unless you're dead, fraudulent activity on your credit card is easily remedied with a call to the lender from you. So even if someone stole your cell phone and your wallet (in order to, for some reason, call the credit card company? I don't know many identity thiefs who call credit card companies) you could still call up from any other phone and get a new card #. Not sure why it is necessary for them to ask you questions over the phone. It doesn't help any situation, or prevent fraud in any way.

It's because they recognize the phone number that you're calling from. Try calling from a phone number not listed on your Discover account and I'm pretty sure they'll ask verification questions.

So you reminded me of something that until I thought about it, was really funny. I all at the same time ordered a new IT card, while changing my address online to my new address to be mailed to me. Not only did I get a call from their Fraud department, but about a week after I got my new cards, I got letters sent from both my new and old address from Discover just alerting me that my address was changed and a card sent to a new address right away, which they flagged as unusual behavior, and just wanted to notify me i addition to the several emails I got about the changes.
