And just a reminder that huge limits on Discover aren't "needed" compared to other cards.  The 5% category caps out at $1,500 spend per quarter.   Perhaps useful for the first year of Miles if you plan to spend a lot (via MS or otherwise) but otherwise they are 1%/1.5% cards which shouldn't be seeing a lot of your spend.

Yes, I know, "util padding" blah blah blah!

I think it's valuable for those who may want to have a card with BT offers without having to apply for another one. In the case of BT, higher limit is a blessing. I've never done a BT, but that's the only reason why I haven't closed it yet.

With that said, I pad my utilization with my checkbook.

I agree.  Also, when I was on the phone with Discover, he said they generally provide offers right in your account for BT's, outside of the current promo of 0% for 18 months that I received.  I've never done one either and don't plan one using it but it's nice to know it's there.

+1 really only two things Discover is useful for which is first year and BT's.. Hence a decent limit for BT's although if you have been on this forum long enough you are bound to have a decent BT card with a decent limit other than discover.  I just simply use them for the Cat 5% now and leave the frustration behind, yet I still like to vent how they are backwards on their business model from my eyes, obviously I don't see their metrics as sure people with alot less credit or new or rebuilding credit are alot more profitable to themSmiley Happy

Thanks for that link! Seems like it’s everyones highest limit, i looked at Discover’s pre approved screen and there were no offers for me so it kinda makes me feel a tad bit doubtful about it all. I did a pre approval for Amex and the BCE and delta miles card showed up for me, so my mind has me going back and forth between the two.

I might check out my pre approval options for discover again in two weeks and see if I’m lucky Smiley Wink

not sure if you read my link but I had no preapprovals either. Cold apps on disco and amex.
