I just got approved for discover it on Tuesday. I realized today no one told me credit limit. So I just called them up and asked. Rep said 2500. Is this normal? Are they stingy?
My main question is. Because I don't have card yet. Is it ok to ask for cli upon activation or got yo luv button. That's barely enough to cover Vance transfer. Want to consolidate.
Advice from the pros here at myfico would be welcomed. Thanks all

Discover is VERY stingy but some of had luck with calling them regarding BT and getting an increase, otherwise you can request SP cli every 90 days and they will come back and say if they will need hp or not and you can decide then if you want to do hp.

YMMV, but this hasn't been my experience with Discover. They were my second card, gave me a starting CL of $7,500 and gave me an auto-CLI of $2K after the third month. From what I've seen, I think Discover is more likely to give you a higher starting CL if you have little to no credit history, or a relatively few number of cards with low CLs.

That is for sure, Discover seems to love to target those who don't pile on a number of accounts and just use a few, those who have Tons of available credit and sometimes really strong credit files actually get much less love from discover.
So you guys are saying. Be happy with the 2500. . Ok I will wait the 90 days. Want to make discover my go to card. Unless cap 1 increase limit on quicksilver.
congrats on the approval. 2,5K was also the CL I started with 19 months ago and it took me 15 months to get my first CLI to 5K and only 3 more to 7,5K. so my advice is use the card and be patient...it will grow
Thank you for letting me know. Ican wait. My 14 months 0 percent. Then 1 more month. Good. Looking forwRd

I would still try when you get the card to see if they would up the cl for BT and be sure to still call every 90- days for sp CLI, you just have to decide how long you will wait it out if they won't give you cli on sp to take the hp for the cli.
When I was approved for my Discover IT card back in late Dec. of last year, my initial CL was $4000. They auto-CLIed it in June and gave me an increase of $400. Every little bit helps. Based on my experience with them, they like to see a balance. That's what I was doing (taking advantage of the 0% APR on a larger purchase). Show them that you use your card responsibly and you keep a balance, and they might reward you (6 months later, in my case). Good luck!

A hit of the luv button is a SP?
