Finally they offer it directly. There has been a lot of stories here of people applying for discover in hopes of getting the sometimes elusive secured counteroffer, it seemed like you had better odds of picking winning powerball numbers. Thanks for sharing.

They must have high standards for it, only reason I was declined because "recent delinquency" knowing that I don't have any recent delinquent accounts I called them. She cited a capital one charge off that is a year old and a First Primer charge off from 4 years ago. she said having any past due account on a report automatically doesn't qualify. I told her that Barclay gave me a 1500$ limit card last month and they are a prime bank like discover and she said we cant offer the card if you don't qualify, so applicants beware! 610 was my EQ as well. I'll just stick with barlcays then.

Looks like they're only offering it as an It Chrome. Which is still better than winning the magical lottery of secured cards by apping for the regular card and hoping for the best but that's too bad that it's an It Chrome (IMO).

Still, definitely nice that it's open for apping. Still no telling what qualifies someone for it --- I have one and they probably shouldn't have given me one considering others with probably healthier profiles than mine was at the time can't get one. It's still secured at 14 months so obviously they aren't quite ready to trust me which is fine, I'm pretty grateful to have it considering they were my first card in my rebuilding process and it kept me out of the subprime lender land. Someday they'll cut me my refund check, when a couple more ancient things drop off probably.  I've treated it really well so my history with Discover is 100% positive.  Hopefully I'll get the highly anticipated congratulatory email soon.

I gotta say, I kinda dig the black look of the new secured card offer.  Heh.

When I started I was using capital one secured card. Good to see discover bringing their own out

I would like to apply for this card, just worried about being declined since they have never countered me the secured in the past.

I called the 800 number and they said it went live at midnight eastern.

She also said they don't pull your money unless approved.

Still afraid to app.

I'm thinking the same thing.  Since I'm always declined for a regular card.  I never had them prior to my bk.

I was declined and I'm at 606! I will get a letter in 7-10 days. I'm bummed.
