Do Instant Approval Cards generally result in lower credit lines?

As I compile a list of cards to apply for as I rebuild credit, a question that occurs is do Instant Approval Online Cards offer less of a credit-line then others?

I have a couple AU accounts from my parents, and hoping IA will be less likely to scrutinize these as opposed to looking at score and derogs.

Related question:
When applying for multiple cards are there ways to manage inquiries best?
For instance, does applying for all on same day help as opposed to spreading it out?
Are there cards that will do soft-pull first to let you know if you should apply?

Re: Do Instant Approval Cards generally result in lower credit lines?

I would say no to the initial question about low credit lines they differ regardless of how you apply

as for applying all in one day or not--not sure that matters--kinda knowing which report they will pull kinda eases the pain of having all inquiries pulled from one report but it still depends some companies you really dont know who they will pull until its done

Capital one has a pre approval (sorta) on their website they pull all 3 scores to make a dec
Bank of america has a pre approval page on their website and also Spiegels

Good luck!!

Lots of post on here to generally find out what report is likely to be pulled

Re: Do Instant Approval Cards generally result in lower credit lines?

No, nycc2. Not at all. Here's a good example.

In late Sept. 2007, I received 2 pre-apps. One from Juniper for Visa Plat. and 1 from WaMu Visa Plat. I applied for both. And was accepted by both.

When the cards arrived the Juniper had an opening cl of $400. While the WaMu card had an opening limit of $6,500.

But I have to admit, I had been an old Providian cc holder when WaMu bought them. That might have affected the cl. Not sure.

Re: Do Instant Approval Cards generally result in lower credit lines?

I'm thinking my best bet is Amazon Chase.

We've (my family) had an Amazon account for 3 years or so and spend quite a bit purchasing pretty much everything from razors to laptop computers. The card on account to pay for that is my parent's Amex.

Everytime I check out they ask if I want to apply, so I'm thinking if I apply for my own Amazon card, once I get my FICO to ~700, they may take into account the spending/payment history on that account.

My sister applied for one and got an $8,000 CL. She put self-employed and I think $30k.

Most of her good credit is from AU on my parent's Amex, and she is a big outstanding student loan (not due or paid yet).

Wamu is ridicolous they started me out with $1000 wich was hilarious to me but they had no interest for a year I think when I got it. The most they bumped me up to was $1500. They dont focus too much on their cards it's not their focal point.
