Hi all,
I was wondering what type of information is shared with CC issuers before or after I apply/approved for an airline card.
Im currently platinum with AA, but I'm also lifetime gold(working on lifetime platinum). In my case, would Citi/Barclays know the details of my relationship with AA, or does AA just give them generic information with no details of elite status? Is there a third party element to this?
Thanks
Considering when you do status matches with other airlines you have to provide proof of your current status before receiving offers I want to say no specific info is given but could be wrong.

Given the Co-branded credit cards, I'm sure those two partners share information.
It was rumored recently that AA was targeting Citi cardholders for recent trial status on AA. Those that got targeted all seemed to have one thing in common. Hardly any AA flights.
Airlines actually have ways to confirm status with another carrier, this has been discussed on FT several times. It's speculation that it normally stems from verification for documents they feel are bogus.
I would not think Airline share much information with each other as it could give another airline an edge in business or help them target loyal customers
When Chase inaugurated the new United Club Card Visa in 2012 following United's merger with Continental, Chase definitely knew that I was 1K with United because their letter to me offering the card said that the offer was being made because of my 1K status.

Thats interesting. I wonder if Citi or Barclays will take notice when I hit Executive Platinum this year.
