I guess I could try this and find out for sure but I thought you guys would probably know with less hassle.
I have an extra csp because after I was approved I asked for expedited shipping but they had already sent the initial card so I got the expedited card as well as the standard shipping a few days later. They have the same acct number, exp date, and cid so does this mean they can both be used or is there some other form of identifying info that would make this card get declined?
I have the same issue with my Amex platinum...acct number cid and exp date are the same but they changed the msd
Also discover sent my wife the wrong design on her card and when she got the new one it had the same info again
Just curious
In my prior experience, yes. They will both work. However, it may be a YMMV sort of thing. Some card issuers may have some coding in the chip/stripe and have deactivated one even though externally, they appear identical.
With Chase, yes my replacement cards and old cards have worked you just have to make sure to activate the new card.
With Amex, I have ordered replacement charge cards and the old cards have still worked. Although my most recent replacement charge card had a new expiration date and 4 letter security code on the front.
So u have to check I guess.

My experience has been that both cards work, and especially if they have the same CVV in theory they should be viewed as the same card. Where I don't have experience is using the chip feature of two separate cards with the same CVV... I would think they would both work using the chip as well, but since the chip is said to have a counter this will be new for me to try out as well.
Regarding your Amex, your situation might be different, but both with my recent accounts and my accounts back in the 90s I never had them to send me the exact same card twice; even if you have two cards with the same account number, look at the four digits on the front to see if they are the same (remember that's the CVV merchants use for Amex, not the ones on the back). When I've called Amex in the past those are the numbers they usually prompt me for, which tells them which card (old or new) I have in my possession. That's how they keep us honest on not getting extra cards for spouses without paying the fee
Yes, they do for replacements. But for downgrades for exmaple, from the CSP to the CS, the old card won't work. The replacement card will have a different 3 digit code on the back.
Some do and some don't . ime. if the cvv changes. they will work for a certain time. after nix. all discover that went to emv and the non emv stop working. so it just depends on the actual card. many will many won't

Wow!! If you were able to pay using the chip on all those cards, that certainly clears up the question I had on regarding duplicate chip cards!!
