Do purchases with a "convenience charge" count towards SUB?

I have a gold Delta Amex card with the $3,000 in 4 months for 60,000 miles offer. I'm already at $2,000, and i'm thinking of paying some tuition in order to reach $3,000 quickly. However, when I go to pay the tuition with a CC, it of course shows that I have to pay the convenience charge (AKA paying the swipe fee for them). I have no issue paying the extra $10 or whatever to be able to use my Amex. My question is, will Amex count this towards my SUB if I have to pay the convenience charge? Maybe this doesn't matter at all, just wondering.

Yes, it will count towards your minimum spend.

The fee is added to the original charge so it's part of the charge.  Amex doesn't know that it's a $1000 tuition bill plus a $10 "convenience fee"... they just see a charge for $1010.

So yes, it should apply toward your SUB.

Absolutely!  I charge my kids' extremely expensive private school tuition each month because the rewards outweigh the fee.  Same for my electric bill which charges a small fee, and my gas bill during the winter (but not in the summer when the fee would end up being like 8-10%). Also tax season works if the fee is low enough. FWIW the tuition payments I make (and all ancillary charges for after-school, catering, fundraisers, etc.) are billed separately from the convenience charges.  Without doing this, there's no way I'd be able to do things like $75k annual spend on SPG Luxury and having multiple $5,000 signup bonuses to hit at once.

I do the same thing with my daughters pre k tuition. Easy to get squeeze more big sign up spends in. And I can change on line every month.

Also my work allows me to change online now my check gets direct deposited so I can slice and dice the money to many banks. Makes it very easy to do bank sign up bonuses.

Another trick is you can fund a PNC bank account with up to 2k from a credit card charge.
