I recently got approved for IGH Chase Premier Rewards card. It was my understanding that as long as I have the card open, I would automatically qualify for Premier Elite status. However, even after 2 weeks of card opening my IHG status remained as "Club". When I called chase, they mentioned that there is a $40,000 per year spend in order to qualify for Platinum Elite status.
When I look at Chase website, it says that the following:
As an IHG® Rewards credit cardmember, you are upgraded to IHG® Rewards Platinum Elite status for as long as you remain a Premier cardmember, and as long as your IHG® Rewards membership remains in good standing.*
Up to 26X Total Points
10X points with this card, and up to 10X points from IHG®
for being an IHG® Rewards Member*Opens overlay, and up to 6X
points from IHG® with Platinum Elite Status, a benefit of this card***
But the weird thing is that it also says the following:
Diamond Elite once you spend $40,000 each calendar year*
I am not sure if Chase is giving me incorrect information or if I missed something.
Thanks.
Did you input your IHG Membership # when you applied?
call IHG to have them corrected, NOT chase
When I applied, I already provided my current rewards number. I called Chase and they confirmed that the right number is attached with my credit card. But when I called IHG they said they can't see that in their system. I called Chase and IHG multiple times and they keep blaming each other. Then Chase transferred me to a manager who said that there is a $40,000 spend requirement for getting Platinum Elite Status.

Did you point said manager to Chase's own website quote you provided us here that clearly spells out the benefit you get by being a cardholder?
ETA: The T&C's do say "Please allow 6 to 8 weeks after account opening for the automatic Platinum Elite status to be applied to your IHG® Rewards account."
Yes you do. I have the old IHG select club and I have premier status. The only thing I put on it is my monthly myfico and a rare hotel charge maybe once a year on it. So I don't even come close putting 40k on it and I only have a 3.5 K limit. That was my SL and still my limit. I've had it for at least 9 years. My Select Club card only has $49 AF, they keep asking me upgrade to the premier card. I'm not going to unless they force me to. It's one night a year for $49.
