Can I use Serve card like a debit card and pay something like my insurance bill online? Maybe im just not using the correct search word, but what i've read all points to the bill pay feature...and i dont want to go that option.

its an prepaid card only thing you can really use it for is bill pay. Anything else i would deem to dangerous, as in they will shut you down or they will return payments.

I find serve/redbird/bluebird to be too risky for anything other than bill pay, but others may be more daring and withdraw money or try and buy MO. Thats not my cup of tea.

Cant you also use it where Amex credit cards are accepted? You certainly can with bluebird and redbird.
You can but definition of debit card can be broad. Since you can't pay CC with it on CC website you have to push it thru amex serve site. Yes you can use it for regular purchases, but i don't like using it for that purpose since you don't get warranties and stuff like that i don't think

So you're saying it can be used to purchase things online (which is what the FAQ stated), but i can't logon to my Allstate account and pay my monthly bill with the serve card?
Amex's Serve card is a debit card as are all prepaid cards. These are different than secured credit cards which are actual credit cards and carry the usual fees and interest. the main advantage of Serve is that you can use it at places that take Amex cards like Costco without needing a pin.
