Good luck on the conversion to Signature.  I called last night, after having my Freedom for 18 mos, and a 9k CL, and was told they couldn't convert to Signature.  Only to Slate, or Freedom MC.  I bluntly declined the offer.  I've run almost 50k through the card along with Sapphire Preferred, and plan to go through the EO for conversion request.

Kippie, send a secured message via chase online.

My freedom is less than 12 months and they finally converted it to a signature for me. Took me about 3 emails before they said they would escalate it to a specialist. I got a call about 2 days later, and was told it will be converted. Now that I have it I don't think it really makes any difference lol

If you have a CSP why do you want to run money through the freedom other than for the category spending? Is freedom better for some things?

I keep hearing the only way to get a CLI is by requesting one (and it costs you a hard inquiry).  Is this true?  Don't they do auto CLIs at all?  What does it take to get one?

Yes, they do. I got my auto CLI at 4-5 months. Went from 3.7k to 4.2k

@Anonymous @noober0x

Well from some researching I believe they do, do auto CLI but from the trends I been seeing, is as if, They do so in very small increments (which is fine if you don't mind slowly getting to that limit you want, especially since its usually a soft pull/ or especially if your comfortable with the limits your at and just happy that their not pulling a Cap1 and not distributing them at all + at the same time avoiding inquiries) lol but for others who think they deserved a higher starting limit and don't mind the inquiries (usually might take +2 to get to that preferred limit), and shooting for big increases I think the only way is to follow the every 6 months + HP rule (through the senior analyst) is the way to go as they are not that hard up on increasing you to those higher limits like I said as long as your showing trends/good combos  of spending + responsible-ness. I mean they might not give you that 10k right away as I'm going through the process but as -p said wait a year and you should get it as, when I asked for my first CLI, I asked for 10k, they countered 5k, I'm kicking this 5k limit in the butt, and I know when I finish my mini project and do the second MR I will be at 10k, but CLI and Chase are a complex process as I'm learning. Smiley Wink -LJ

They're not that uncommon, but you need an appropriate credit profile PLUS heavy usage. If you're not using something close to 50% of your limit every month and PIF, your chances are greatly diminshed.

Also if you apply for additional Chase cards, your likelyhood of getting auto CLIs are very low. From their perspective, they just extended you additional credit through a new card. Therefore you're less likely to get an auto-CLI on an existing one.

To maximize your chances of a CLI with Chase with an existing card:

1. Heavy usage every month and PIF

2. Limit how many new cards you apply for with them, preferably none

Sounds like it would work, How long do you think this would take? 6 months? I got my Freedom in 06 or 07, It wasn't called that, but it was automatically transformed. In the beginning I got two auto CLIs from 500 to 750 to 1500, where its been for EVER.

Just got into PIFing and turboing my score around April 13, not any lates but high UTL sometimes. Maybe if nothing happens by the end of the year I may take a HP.

I guess ive got Amex 61 day CLI coming up to keep me distracted.

Your one month behind me! So I would advise you get your 3x CLI first, then keep low UTL (after the inc) on that amex card, and even though you will want to do heavy spending with the new limit, avoid that temptation and convert all of your spending/ start putting anything you can on that freedom card (gas/light bills/cable bills/ groceries/ anything that you normally would pay cash/check for) etc and keep pifing it for the next 4 months (9% on however you want to do it, but I suggest it is nothing over 9%) and when your amex new line has posted, and somewhere around oct 21-29 when your statement cutoffs, call up chase and ask for a senior analyst to review your account and whatever limit you want ask for a little bit higher (because in most cases they will counter offer) especially given your situation and you should be able to get a pretty good increase.
