I was approved on Dec 29th with Discover for $1K which I thought was pretty low. I just got my card today and I just noticed that they sent my score and it says EQ 668. I just checked my score watch and it says 714. That's a 46 point difference in 3 days.....nothing much has changed and as a matter of fact my utilization went up. So what gives? Are they using a different scoring model?
Yes, I believe they use a FICO score, although it might be a bankcard enhanced version. Also, not sure if it is FICO 04 or 08.
My last correspondance from them indicated "type of credit score" as FICO and a range from 300 to 850.

It says FICO and 300 to 850. Is the one here 04 or 08?
I'm really wondering if I should call them for a recon becasue that score is way off. My DCU score on Dec 28th says 704.
The EQ FICO sold here is the 04 version. Was your DCU score also an Equifax FICO ?

Yes DCU is Fico. I think I'm going to call them and find out what's going on.

I believe OP was referring to the monthly DCU FICO that members receive every month.
Edit: Oops, Rhaeny beat me to the punch!

The EQ here and from DCU are both Classic '04 (explicitly on the one here, and it's been checked previously for the DCU one)
The Discover is quite likely Bankcard-enhanced, and also likely a '08 model. There isn't much way to correlate the two honestly, if you have recent credit card accounts or prior issues on credit cards, it's reasonable to assume a Bankcard-enhanced pull might weight them more heavily as negatives. If it's '08, assuming the TU and EQ reports are similar, the Walmart TU being inline with the Discover pull might make it reasonable right there.
End of the day I wouldn't worry about it, a win is a win as far as CC approvals go in my opinion .

.
I had experienced this before as well... Discover uses some sort of enhanced FICO that doesn't really correllate well to the FICO sold here... I think its enhanced for credit cards but not sure.
I never read that they use internal scoring, but you never know now a days
