Does amex combine limits on credit cards? Like let say you have two credit cards bce and ED could you combine the limits to one and close the other? Also, if you apply for a card and are denied could you transfer some of your limit over to get the card approved?
1) Yes. You can do so online.
2) Yes and no. If the only reason for denial is that you have reached the cap of the total exposure that Amex is wiling to extend to you, then yes. That is an option. However, if there are other factors that play into the denial, then perhaps no.

hmm thats pretty interesting. I always hear people combining limits with chase no so much with amex.
I was actually denied for the ED card (no hp) about a month ago. It was right after my 3x cli but the denial reason was not total exposure.

They do allow it; however, I believe that the account that you are wanting to transfer the limit from has to have been open for 13 months.
Yes, if there are other factors for denial. Then moving limits around will not help.

How do you do it online? I know a long while back it was in the "Manage Credit Limit" page of your account, but that amex had pulled the option out. Did they just move ot somewhere else? Or does it automatically show up when one of the cards reaches its 13th month?

You're correct. It had been a while since I last logged on to my Amex account. The option does not show up for me either. Just checked. Meaning that one has to call in now to make that happen.

Man...i was hoping you'd say it was somewhere else lol. Wanted to shift some limits from DW'S cards and did not want to deal with calling it in or via chat

There is a URL (I think I posted it here a while back) that still allows you to do it online. But probably easier to call than to search!
