Re: Does any one else get annoyed being asked if they want to open a department store CC at check ou

eesh, just do what I do. I just tell them I already have one. Simple. Whether it's Macy's, Best Buy, or any other retailer. Gets them off my back without having to be rude or forceful and they don't feel bad about not being able to get me to apply for one.

Saying you already have one or saying you are divorced usually shuts them up

Yea I usually just tell them I already have one too. My first job was retail so I know that they have quotas to meet so it doesn't necessarily annoy me.

I dont see it at Walmart but in Kohls, Macy's, and other reatailers in the mall it synonymous with thanks and have a great day!! "they always say dont worry, you still get the discount!" I always turn them down. What they dont tell folks is it you get dings galore if you do an app everytime they ask. It drives me crazy.

Nah, to me life is too short to get excited about something like this.

Went shopping at Talbots, Ann Taylors, The Loft and a few more department stores today. And I am tired of constantly being asked to open a CC. The woman at Macy's was pushing pretty hard a week ago to get my daughter to open one.  I know it is just their job to ask but I just get tired of them asking all of the time anyway. No....I don't want their cards! LOL

Just venting....

LOL, I get annoyed.. Specially JCPenney and Target..

I just tell them I have a bad horrible credit or my wife already has a card.

"I already have enough cards" is simple. I know they have to ask and I don't fault employees for asking once.

If they persist, I might make a point of paying with Amex Platinum (in the eyes of the average person a highly exclusive card).

And, really, I don't shop much at those stores in the first place. Most of my clothes come from Brooks Brothers (where I have the card already), Costco, or internet shopping.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

1) Give em a break....
They're working RETAIL, for YOU

Isn't that punishment, enough?😑

2) Re-reading the above
They make on average $12.20/hr, do we really want to give the poor schmucks MORE grief...
By picking on em?

What's next asking the lunch lady algorithm questions?

Algebra, for the gas station attendant?

Every time, we walk into the bank...They ask us if want our 19th checking account, it's just where we are in modern times, folks

Why dump on the working shift?
They are just people at the BOTTOM of the matrix, doing the LEAST amount of work they can get away with... Trust me, that person would probably rather you hurry up and leave so they can check their Facebook and shoot the ish with their co-workers anyway
But they have to DO as 'da man instructs of they won't have $$ to pay THEIR freaking CC bill😋

3) It's funny ( you guys know I'm ribbing) how we complain about this request and how 'bad' it is for us
But ain't nobody beating down
That fast food person CONSTANTLY inticing our fat as is to
Super size the fries
Or get the PIE
Or make it a GD combo

Why not TEST their as on calorie count?

Why not shout them down, when they have the NERVE to offer you a shake...They can clearly see by those love handles, you don't need yet another freaking sugary treat 😀
How dare they ( does it come in Strawberry?)

My point is, it's just a part of the funny world we live in
They've gotta ask and as long as it WORKS to 'some' degree...They'd be foolish to STOP asking!

Ppl claim they HATE 'junk' mail ...But somebody is buying something or the powers that be wouldn't waste their money, you don't see them burning money on the Sunday paper, do you? But the mail ain't gonna stop till we stop buying, period.

And, obviously they get enough apps to make it worth the effort (& the clerks are already standing there and they aren't asking the ' cold' public their asking current clients...IE the "best" most likely prospect one can find...Duh!)

Don't want the ice cream samples inside Costco
Don't visit Costco
Don't want to be asked about making it easier to buy from a retailer... C'mon they gotta ask, it only makes sense 😎
