Which banks match the highest limit you have ?? Let's say you got a couple of cards at 20k or over... Will other banks match those limits, if so which banks ??

None of them will automatically. Some may, but it depends on too many other factors. No lender would be so stupid as to blindly match your highest CL without looking at everything else first.

EX 798, EQ 789, TU 784
American Express Platinum (NPSL) || Bank of America Privileges with Travel Rewards Visa Signature - $23,200 CL
Barclays American Airlines Aviator Red World Elite Mastercard - $20,000 CL || Chase IHG Rewards World Mastercard - $25,000 CL
Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa Signature - $12,700 CL || Chase United MileagePlus Club World Elite MasterCard - $26,500 CL
Citibank Hilton Reserve Visa Signature - $20,000 CL || J.P. Morgan Ritz Carlton Visa Signature - $23,500 CL

Re: Does anyone match highest limit ??

Some do some don't factors include your history, limits,AAoA, how many high limit TL's and much much more...

They want your business but not by matching another bank and losing the biggest chunk should something happen later financially and you can't make payments.

Hope this makes sense

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Does anyone match highest limit ??

Assuming your income is a very high and isn't a limiting factor, and that your credit history is solid without any derogs, banks would be more inclined to match or simply offer an even higher CL.

If you look at it objectively, they are not really matching limits. They are simply giving you what your income, credit history and score warrants.

If your income isn't that high, they might even give you a really low CL simply because they may feel that you have too much credit relative to income.

Re: Does anyone match highest limit ??

What everyone else said is absolutely correct... but they didn't mention the banks that would be more inclined to give you a credit card with a similar or higher limit..

I know that Chase will.. and certainly Navy Federal if you qualify. I don't really know of any others. How is the rest of your credit profile though? AAoA, UTL?

Re: Does anyone match highest limit ??

Back when my highest limit card was 3K, chase matched (3k on freedom) and exceeded (5K sapphire). I apped for those cards on the same day

Then when i apped for the Us Bank cash+, i had a highest limit of 6K, they approved for 6.5K.

At levels like 20K+, i think youll probably have less success unless the income is pretty high.

Re: Does anyone match highest limit ??

For me, I would say Chase and BOA. Once I started getting cards with 10k+ limits, their approvals were for 15k, 15.1k, and 12.5k for CSP, Marriott, and Better Balance Rewards.

I would agree that the matching is only good to a point, because once you reach the limit in what they will approve you for, they are not going any higher - you will have to start moving limits around to get approved.

Re: Does anyone match highest limit ??

I see understand what everyone is saying.. I think my main problem is inq's.. I PIF, no derogs, high income, low ulti, and recently closed alot of small limit and stupid cards..

Now the goal is have 6-9 cards at 20k or higher limits...

Anyone know how many cards BOA/FIA will approve you for I have 3 boa cards but was thinking of getting the fidelity Amex...

My main problem is inq I have a inchy finger and just keep hitting the luv button and getting approved for the increase but at the same time it cost me a pull... In 2013 I have only had 2 pulls one isn't credit card/ personal credit related... But all across roughly 20+ on each report but in nov at least 7-10 inq will fall off from 2011.. I'm looking to apply this month though.

Re: Does anyone match highest limit ??

If you guys got those CLs during 1 spree, its evident that those creditors were not matching because those CLs and trade lines are not even reported yet, such as the case for Yahcomb. They can't match something that they don't know about. If they had known about it there's still going to be a possibility they will offer less or nothing altogether because of new recent accounts, and total credit relative to income, etc.

@youngman, what cards do you have now?
If you want higher CLs, stop applying, and focus on CLIs instead with your cards.

Don't those inquiries only matter for the first year? I had a bunch of inquires fall off last week. They were from when I was trying to refi my car last July. There will be another bunch falling off later this month (credit card spree) and then a few more next month.  That will take me from 16 down to maybe 2-3.
