I'm asking for my dad, he has 3 credit account opened in the last 24 mons, and 2 car leases, do they could car leases also?
My guess would be yes, when they say new accounts they mean any accounts that show up on your report.

Strictly speaking, it would be more accurate to say it applies to non-cobrand cards. Some people have been denied the Slate due to the 5/24 restriction, and the Slate has no rewards whatsoever.

Can you find me the posts that states this? I haven't seen anyone say this and I'm curios as to what type of "account" defines account.
I think the only way to know 100% is unfortunately to apply for a card and see what happens. Otherwise, you are just going to be going by a bunch of mixed speculation. While it's pretty clear that Chase will NOT approve anyone for a Freedom/CSP with more than 5 new accounts in 2 years, it's not as clear as to whether that includes just CCs, or mortgages, car loans, etc as well. I would think "an account is an account", but who knows.
Sorry I am on mobile so this is the best I can do Google Search Link. I don't see anyone report that the 5/24 rule apply to more than credit card.
Also, no one from Chase ever confirms the rule, the wording "account" or "credit card" is basically amongst ourselves.
This https://m.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/3ay7aq/official_chase_rules_discussion_thread/ is also a good thread. There are people who have less than 5 credit cards in 24 months but more than 5 credit cards + loans combined got approved. No one know for sure, but I will take my chance that the 5/24 rule is credit card only when it's my time to apply.

Somewha interesting but I see some declines and some approvals
Its not going by what kind of account. its says 5 total accounts not 5 new cards. which this is a horrible policy. but in reality it is not so bad if you already have some chase cards. With the freedom i can't imagine of going for a csp or slate at this point in time. in fact i don't want either one of those anyway. Any of the other chase co branded cards would do. and this policty does not apply
