Does having too many PCs on report hurt credit?

Hello all!

I am in the process of product changing from the Chase Slate to the Chase Freedom (with 5% rotating categories). I paid off my BT to the Slate and now it's useless to me.
I also already have a Cap1 QS, so I already get 1.5% back on everything (hence why I didn't want the Freedom Unlimited).

In order for someone to PC from a Slate to a Freedom, you must PC to the Freedom Unlimited, then PC to the Freedom.

My question is, would this "double PC" look bad in a creditors eyes?

Please excuse my ignorance on the subject, this is my first PC.

PS. this is my first post (I have been a long time reader), but finally decided to post this when I couldn't find anything about it.
If this has already been discussed on a previous thread, please forgive me and kindly point me in that direction.

Thank you!
Cheers!

There's no formal record with the credit bureaus of any product changes. Individual companies may have internal records (example if you did 4 PC's with Chase) and they may see those but other than that it's not an issue.

Re: Does having too many PCs on report hurt credit?

Glad I could clarify! Yeah for the bureaus it just says, Chase card or Capital One card not which specific card it is. Cheers!

Re: Does having too many PCs on report hurt credit?

@Matt4200 maybe I'm thinking of this wrong, but wouldn't a creditor who pulls your record know if you've PC'd?

Like I said, I could be wrong, but doesn't your report tell them what card you applied for and were approved for as well as what card you currently pay for?

So if I started with the Slate and double PC'd to get to the Freedom, wouldn't my report show that I opened with a Slate and am now paying on a Freedom? Or is the report just general and say "Chase" with no other information?

I suppose if it even does show what card you started with and what card you're currently paying, they still wouldn't know how many times I had to PC to get the card... I digress.

Thanks for any and all input!
Cheers!

Re: Does having too many PCs on report hurt credit?

Not at all, no one can tell you PC'd except the individual bank you PC'd with.

As I said your credit report only shows it as "Chase Card" or "Captial One Card".

So say you apply for Chase Freedom and are approved for it with a 5k limit. Then a year later you PC it to Freedom Unlimited. The only things someone pulling your credit report would see is that you have an open credit card with Chase, the Credit Limit, and Payment History. They cannot see what the name of the individual card is or was as that information is not found relevant to the credit reporting agencies so it will just say "Chase Card" even if it was originally a Freedom and PC'd to Freedom unlimited.

Cheers!

Re: Does having too many PCs on report hurt credit?

If you do a complicated product change that involves shifting limits or closing a card, those changes will appear on your reports. But as others have said, the report doesn't say anything about the product itself.
