I am about to build a high-end desktop and would like another installment loan on my reports.  Do any parts warehouses like NewEgg or Tiger Direct offer installment vs Revolving accounts?  All my spends are met and would rather have the thicker file than any rewards for the purchase.

They don't offer installment loans.  Your best bet is to get an actual loan for your build and then make monthly payments unfortunately if you want it reported that way.

thanks,  i'll hit up my CU,  I guess a 2k personal loan will look ok on my reports.   my paid loans are all 1k or less and secured, lol.

If you already have installment loans on your CR, why do you feel that you need another to make your file "thicker?" Since you're a member of a CU, I would sit down with them and get their opinion on whether or not you actually need another installment loan on your file. I only say that because it seems that your profile has enough of a mix, so I'd go for the rewards with such a large purchase.

who's your credit union?    they must be good.     the people at mine are pretty clueless about credit files (i have talked to all of them many times).    having a large unsecured installment loan on my file would probably give me better options in the future than just having 2 tiny share secured loans... IMO...  rather than a 15th revolving line.

Smiley LOL

So sorry to hear that. It's not my CU, it's my Mom. Credit Union 1 here in IL. I don't know, maybe it's not the CU itself, but just this particular location.

  nice!

there are 2 LO's at mine and they are trained to spot baddies and check the score (propriatary score) and that seems about it.    also they are in the process of selling off 2 branches (that include the branch that is 1 block from my house) to a very small CU that has just  passed vote to convert from federal to a state chartered CU.   state chartered can charge more than federal % limits.     there will no longer be a SEFCU branch in my state.

eh,  the new CU may be better, never know   :]

Re: Don't want to use a CC

Elim, the Newegg Preferred account is a Bill Me Later account. It doesn't report to CB. I have the business acct which was instant approved without a PG.

Re: Don't want to use a CC

Scratch that. I was working on my PCM account when I replied! If you sign up at Newegg Business site (it's free), you will see a Net 55 box on the right side of the screen. That's the acct that didn't require a PG assuming you've had a business for two years.

If you applied for the regular Newegg account, I'm almost certain it reports. I think at one time it didn't, but pretty sure it changed now.

Re: Don't want to use a CC

With you on that E. Just got a personal loan without applying from State Department Credit union. Look for the thread under General Credit Topics. Many of us get checks. Sure it is high interest. 15% But nice to have that loan without HP. They did a SP and pre approved the loan. Only had to cash the check.

Re: Don't want to use a CC

I know that New Egg takes PayPal so you may consider applying for PayPal Credit (Bill Me Later). It is a hidden trade-line and based on the dollar amount they may give you six months no payments/no interest or more.
