Well my May app spree caught up with me. Got a letter from Barclay stating they are reducing my 3K credit card limit to 2K. Reasons being, too many new account openings (4 including them) and balance increased too quickly (I transferred a 1K balance to the Barclay and bought a $260 plane ticket).
Well, that sucks but they are notorious for that. :-/
you got lucky i applied for a carnival mastercard because of my upcoming cruise I had a couple months back and got denied and triggered a manual review for the csr and because he saw 4 new accounts in the past 6 months I had a 0 balance as well and 1% utlization with a 3k cl and having their card for a year they instantly closed it
Sorry to hear that, at least they didnt close, how long have you had the account?
Very Wierd! I just received a auto CLI from Barclay's after opening 4 accounts within 6 months! I also BT to the card, and right now my balance on 1 of my new cards is 90% of the CL, Also your TU Fico is way higher than mine... What card do you have? How long have you had the card? Did you call the recon number recently?
Edit: read your siggy ![]()
Barclay us a strange beat. I also have new accounts and got a CLI.
Makes you wonder sometimes.
Sorry to hear about this.
I think I am going to close my account with them. I have a $3k CL and I will call them and ask them to move it to $5k. If they do, I will keep it open. If not, I will close it. Their interest rates are high and their rewards (iTunes Visa) are not very good...
OP - sorry this has happened. I would call them (backdoor) and argue my case.

1. Calling for the CLI usually results in a HP, supposedly Barclay's is pretty good with auto CLI's but I respect your decision.
2. About 99% of the posts I've read in which a poster calls the backdoor number to argue a case after an AA results in account closure **BEWARE**

1. Agreed - I will ask them first. They may be able to soft it for me.
2. I have called and argued with them twice now and that has not been a problem for me. They have always been quite nice to work with. I call and ask them to reduce the interest rate. Have not had luck with that yet...
Most likely, I will just close it as I am now in "pruning" mode. I have some great cards with excellent limits so I feel time to weede out the garden so to speak! ![]()

Would you risk a HP for a CLI?
