Dumb HSBC/Orchard Bank question

Do they ever update the "Application Status" page?

We applied and were approved for two cards (one for hubby, one for me) nearly two weeks ago and I am DYING to know what the CL is. All it says right now is "We are in the process of validating your funds. Your card will be sent in 10-14 days."

Also, anyone know if there's really much difference between the OB "Classic" (what I was approved for -- had to pay $49 app fee) and the OB "Gold" (what hubby was approved for -- had to pay $19)?

Since I got the measly "Classic" and had to pay $49, and hubby got the "Gold" and had to pay only $19, what are the chances that hubby got a $500 CL?

My thinking is that since he got the "better" card and paid less, his CL might be higher than the standard $300 (which is what I'm sure I'll get with my pathetic scores). Any intelligence to that assumption??

TIA!! Smiley Happy

Re: Dumb HSBC/Orchard Bank question

There doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason in how they determine who gets what version. I was pre-approved for the gold. I didn't apply online, but got a pre-approval in the mail and then followed through online. We had 2 HSBC COs at the time. They sent me the gold but it started with a $300 limit. I was recently bumped to $500. My scores were in the very low 500's at the time and I have recently crept up to the low 600's, which may have been what triggered the slight CLI.

Hope you hear something soon!

Re: Dumb HSBC/Orchard Bank question

Sinces when does Orchard have an app fee? I'm so lost.  I didn't have to send in any app fee.  I think I started with a gold card, they have since upgraded to platinum (not that I can tell any difference) - there are annual fee, but they have waived mine. Is that what you are talking about or did they actually make you send in an app fee?

My BF recently apped and was approved for the platinum card with a measly $300 limit. So, I don't think the CL has much to do with the classic/gold/platinum status. What platinum card do you know of with a $300 limit. Haha. Ridiculous.

Re: Dumb HSBC/Orchard Bank question

OC usually starts off with 300CL the difference is probally in the APR from what ive read i have the Plat CL 500 it was increased in 2mths bc of Heavy usage but i dont reccomend tht! I have a great salary and was able to pay large amounts by the statement date! this can kill yr score so stay low within yr limit and orchard is basically a rebuilder card but i loveeeeeeeee my 9.9 APR its lower than my BP chase card which is 11.00%  GL use it wisely!

Re: Dumb HSBC/Orchard Bank question

I got my Orchard card in 2003 with 39 a/f and 700 cl.  They gave me 3 clis for 200 each bringing me to 1300 by 2006.  When I asked them to waive a/f they refused so closed this card but they certainly serve their purpose.  They also sent me a Household card for 1000 the next month which I never asked for but still have.  Getting a cli from them is like pulling teeth.  I have managed to get two,  one for 500 and one for 400.
