I agree it is prudent to get more credit when you do not need it. Congrats on the limits. I currently have about my yearly income in available credit right now. There was a post the other nite over at CB about a couple who had over 120K CC debt. Job loss income shrinkage the whole nine yards. Just about to not be able to pay their 5K monthly mortgage note.

To the point. While it is nice to have large amounts of available credit do not fool yourself into thinking you can actually use it in an emergency that lasts more than a couple of months. Better to save 6 months or more of total expenses. Once you cannot pay the credit card bill you will get rate jacked across the board a few issuers notwithstanding. The high limits are nice for utilization purposes just don't get caught up in the mine is bigger than yours game. It ain't money. If you use it you had better be able to pay it back quickly. Just a game folks nothing more.
