I think it is wise to avoid passing judgment on ppl with credit problems or who use HSBC or Orchid Bank or FP cards (like many of us have used ourselves.)  You can have a high six figure income and a Centurian card and yet be less than a year away from a 500-600 credit score if some drunk driver with no insurance hits your and you find yourself permanently disabled or you suffer a stroke in pregnancy or your company goes belly up unexpectedly and now you are 900 miles from the best and only comparable job offer you can find (but you can't sell your $750,000 home.)  True, it takes hard work, discipline and "grit" to pull your score up from the dumps.  But instead of "embarassing hypotheticals" let's all consider how much we have to be thankful for (that's just my opinion.)

I didn't know Capital One was a subprime card. Smiley Surprised

That's actually a pretty good reason not to make assumptions based on someone's credit card.

CapOne has some dreadful cards with extra-low CL's that never budge, and they have some great ones with high CL's. So it's not very enlightening to say that CapOne is a subprime card, or an excellent card for that matter.

There are some cards that many consider rebuilders with decent rewards and limits, and they're kept because they're someone's oldest card. Maybe they get used every now and then to keep them alive.

And although I posted about a Hooters card up above, I should have clarified that I wouldn't have one because I'm not a huge fan of Hooters and the image that they project. Plus the card design kind of freaks me out. But if I saw someone use one, I might well assume that that person just has a highly-developed sense of irony.  Smiley Wink

I'm embarrassed to use my PSECU debit card simply because it's so gosh darn ugly.  Smiley Very Happy

They certainly are not the kings of card designs.  The debit card with a huge check through it and the credit card that looks like it's from 1985!

Re: Embarrassing Credit Cards

I would be more embarrased by the business person who pulls out a credit card with a kitten 'hanging in there' or hello kitty on it....but that's because I have kitty-ism.

Re: Embarrassing Credit Cards

I wouldn't be embarrassed even if they pulled out a Playboy/Playgirl Visa card to pay for dinner.lol

A credit card is a credit card to me, all that matters is that the charges are approved.

I used my Hooters card once at Red Lobster to pay for my Moms birthday dinner, I was glad no one in my family noticed

Capital One has cards for the whole range of credit.   Poor to Excellent.   That is why I like them for rebuilding.   You can work you way all the way up with them.
