Embarrassing. My CC transaction was declined.

My account was active for online transaction but my plastic card was inactive??? Ever happen to anyone else?

I called the cc bank, put in my account number expecting to hear account bal, but instead was sent to a CSR. Oh boy. I said my card doesn't work. They asked for personal info and then said my card is now active. I asked why it became inactive and the CSR said we can't tell you for security reasons. I do all my shopping online and haven't swiped the card in 18 months. Maybe it become inactive after enough time? Maybe swiping triggered unusual activity?

Anyone else ever have this problem?

yes that very same thing happened to me with capital one for the same reason. i had been using my card online but tried to use it in the store and it was declined; when i called, was told the same thing you were.

Yes pizza, when you don't use a card for a time it becomes inactive.  Remember, exercise it at least once a quarter to keep it fat and happy

Thanks Brammy, I did not know that. I use mine online or over the phone a lot more than I ever swipe them. I will have to watch out for that.

So it's not just using the account periodically, you have to actually use the physical plastic as well? Geez louise, they must hire people to sit around and think stuff like this up.

No it was a joke.  What probably happen since he only used it for online purchases was that the swwiping activity cause an alert for oout of the ordinary activity, thats all.  I once used my card at aconvenience store, forgot something turned around to get a second item and got called for a security review.
