Exceeded $100K Exposure with Synchrony

Current Limits

Lowes Store Card: $35K

Stash Visa: $25K

Walmart Store Card: $25K

Amazon Store Card: $15K

JCPenny Store Card: $10K

Care Credit: $1K

Within the next few months I will be slashing my Amazon and JCPennys limits down so I can get some room on my Care Credit. I've had my eye on Ebates for quite some time now but they denied me back in November so I'm going hold off on that one until about June. Yesterday, I increased my Stash from $20K to $25K and was advised by CSR that he would consider me for my requested amount of $30K if I faxed him my paystub. Will probably send him that information sometime today or tomorrow.

Do you really need 20K+ limits on these cards?   Honestly I would not feel at ease with so much credit from the same lender Smiley Sad  and prefer to diversify and not place all my eggs into the same basket.  Just my 2cents.

Congrats, Isn't there a cut off at 100K? or do they just start looking more closely before giving more CLI?

I needed it for my utilitzation because I was carrying balances on other cards for a few months and didnt want my scores to tank. I will be keeping my Lowes, Stash and Walmart limits since I put heavy usage on these cards every month.

If you look at my signature I am quite diversified. I bank with NFCU, PenFed, and Chase Smiley Happy

The only thing I was thinking 100K+ from Synch out of 176K total?? ... I imagined what would happen if Synch closed the accounts Smiley Surprised.. that is the reason I would never want this amount of credit  from the same lender especially if it was for utilization padding purposes. A closing event like this would tank the score.  Not saying this could happen but I would like to be prepared to such an event and not suffer much. Not sure about your income but having more credit than a full early income from a single lender would make me nervous.  This was just my thoughts behind CLIs on your Synch cards when I saw it.

If it were moi I would definitely reduce some Sync limits and look at adding other lenders to my portfolio like Amex,Chase,Barclays,Citi, couple more CUs etc. I personally would feel uncomfortable with more than 50% of my total credit lines from one lender.

Let me ask what was the main reason  behind applying for the Stash visa and do you stay at a lot of their properties?

I dont want or need any of those other lenders.

I already bank with Chase (Slate/Marriott) and 2 CU's (PenFed/Navy Federal).

I'm happy with what I have and I will be reducing my Synch store limits after they report this month.
