Re: Excessive CC Debt What are my options?

Matt, yes you can usualy transfer multiple items up to your available BT amount.  I am not in with NFCU (application pending) but my Amex EDP allows me to only transfer so much to my new card.  IE I have a 19800SL but I can only transfer X amount (I forget the amount),

I strongly recommend you read through the NFCU rules on BT's to be sure what their criteria are.  You may not WANT to make a call, however you may NEED to make the call to get accurate answers.

BeautifulBlaquePearl - The question about what the min payment is on BT it's usually a percentage of the amount owed but what percent 1,2,3,4? Just seeing if anyone who has done a BT with NFCU can let me know.

Re: Excessive CC Debt What are my options?

Mom just got approved for a card with NFCU. In reading the information it said you can BT up to your limit but an individual BT can't be more than 30k. So I'm assuming you can have multiple BTs

Emma - Thanks for that info I appreciate it!

Does anyone know if you're able to transfer multiple balances over? Like if I had 2 or three cards I wanted to BT to NFCU could I do that?

Yes, you can, I BT'd the balances from 4 cards in total. I did call as recommended before making the decision to use the BT offer. I am glad I did as it will in the end benefit my relationship with NFCU.

Re: Excessive CC Debt What are my options?

I just did the math on doing a BT on all 3 cards to the NFCU and with a $500 monthly pymt it will take you 24 mo to pay it off...12 more months than you will be given the low APR for if you do it now, 15 more than if you wait until Mar as another poster said.  That's not including the now $1600 bal that requires pymts on it ...that if you want paid off as well prior to the )% ending is another $133/mo pymt...plus your other expenses and God forbid if you start charging again on the personal cards after you transfer to the NFCU!  I think you need to find a way to increase the amount you pay towards the existing balances every month rather than looking for a holy grail BT or loan.  As for the business endeavor,  my parents taught me not to count your chickens before they hatch....which seems like good advice in this situation.  How are you planning to handle returns of your product?  Have you tested the quality and longevity of these chargers and other electronics?  What if they start being taxed heavily with import taxes that doubles or triples the cost?  Just some things that come to mind for me when I read your business model.

Re: Excessive CC Debt What are my options?

FroggieMom - I appreciate the concern but I believe everything will be fine. As time goes on we will be able to make more than minimum payments and one large payment.

As for our business we pay no import/export taxes at all so worrying about them doubling doesn't matter.

As for returns the platform we use to get our products does allow for returns and will replace or refund any non-working items. We did have one issue with an order not being sent as shown but it was resolved and they refunded half our money.

Honestly all we are hoping to get out of our business for right now is to pay our mortgage + utilities (gas, electric, internet) and make a $500 payment towards our personal cards. Total that comes out to about $1,400 a month which is nothing compared to what we are projecting profits based on our market research on what local companies currently pay for the same or lesser quality products.

Re: Excessive CC Debt What are my options?

Thanks Emma I think I will call prior to doing it but will definitely be transferring it to NFCU.

This will drop my credit for high UT but significantly raise my fiancee's credit she's currently at 48% overall UT and 80% + UT on 3 lines. She was at 710 before the high UT now she's at 680. I'm hoping if we do this her scores will shoot to about 730 and she can stay in the Garden until 760 and by then we are hoping to have everything PIF which then will give us the freedom and breathing room to get an auto loan, and yes that is necessary our car is at 180k miles and we're hoping/praying it will last until the end of this year.

Oh and we just made our first sale $400 (200 units) to a medium sized retail store with multiple locations they want to see how they sell and if they sell well they will be long time returning customers Smiley Happy
