What's everyones experience with backdoor number?
Is it sort of 50/50. In the sticky it seemed like pretty much every got what they wanted. But I didn't read through the whole thing since it seemed that way.
It worked for me with Chase, I'm incredibly thankful for the backdoor number. I had 2 collection accounts on my reports at that time (bogus but nonetheless); called in, had to jump through a few hoops but were approved ultimately, with $300 bonus!
I'm not sure which company's # you are referring to, but success will vary based on what you are requesting, the company you are calling, and who you talk to at the company.
The main benefit of most of the backdoor # is the ability to talk directly with someone who has the authority and ability to provide assistance much better than could be provided via the regular customer service #.
Yeah, who you talk to is a big one
Being Feb 1 today , I apped for the Lowes card that I have been putting off since November. I was instantly approved ( but with a small 500 limit) . I had seen previous posts referencing calling backdoor to see about an immediate CLI. ..... but no dice.....I DID get to speak to an actual "credit analyst" after the frontline CSR routed me to her. She kept me on hold a few minutes then shot me down, but at least I know I tried and appearantly with the right person. Just have to push for the fourth statement to generate to try again

My exp w/GEMB is that they usually don't CLI on a new CC. I tried with both my GE CCs and they just don't seem to do it. I don't think I've ever read a post where someone reconed a GE CC and got a CLI.
I seem to recall some people reporting success with doing this with their Lowe's cards.....but that's the only one from GECRB that comes to mind....
Well I was curious about Amex. I applied for a Zync card a few months ago. It's probably way too far back to even bring up. But at some point one of those number I'm sure will help me out. My manager at work was actually a manager at an american express call center(I work at a qvc call center) and I've always thought about asking him for advice but I don't want to sound silly when I ask.
Worked once for me. Barclays.
