I've had the firestone card for two years.  I like the on going 6 month no interest promos. But I have come to realize that Firestones constant "upselling" and in my opinion, exorbitant prices negate any savings on interest.

Therefore, I'm canceling my firestone and getting my "tires" from Costco from this point on.

I just wanted to put "tires" in quotes! Lol

You're very much right about the upselling-it's an integral part of their business model and has been as long as I can remember.  I have a friend who used to be a mechanic for a company owed Firestone dealer, and have heard all about how they push everyone to upsell.  He moved on, because he got tired of that whole deal day after day.

I have a Discount Tire right down the block from my local Firestone, and they give you the tires you want at good prices without any added drama.  I've been tempted by the $50 rebates if you use their credit card, but have so far held off on that.  It being from Synchrony is also a minus to my point of view.

Re: Experience with "tire" cards

I have a Goodyear and NTB cards. Used both for tires and state inspection. Love the discounts I've gotten and the 0% interest. Would I get both again, no only need one but I use my Walmart and Sam's for other things. There is one benefit to using a tire chain, locations. Yes, Walmart are everywhere but not all of them have tires. Sam's and Costco have fewer locations. So if you tend to travel a lot it is something to consider. Also, the warranty is important issue. Often Costco, Walmart, and Sam's tires are not backed by the manufacturer warranty. They warranty the tires internally, so if you have a problem with a tire, no warranty through an authorized dealer. Something to consider.
