Hi all,
Curious if anyone has any input or experience with Discover's 4056 request if they had not filed personal returns. I recently received the request and forms, called to explain that I had not filed in the past few years, they said "no problem, just fill it out anyway and send us back the notarized 3 months of bank statements" etc. I asked repeatedly about income verification, since I am able to provide other returns that substantiate what I have listed, and over and over got the "this is just for ID verification, no returns are fine and balances on personal accounts also don't matter".
I see others here have heard similar responses from their reps, but I could not find many actual results posted as to the outcome. So my question is, is this factual about the ID verification or is it just to assure you send back the form. If the lack of returns is going to 100% be an account closure, I'd of course close the account myself first. It's a 6 year old account, not used overly often with a fairly low (5,600) limit.
Would like to know if anyone successfully had an account kept open under similar circumstances to mine. Thank you very much for your replies.
In my case it was just for ID verification and it was super quick to just authorize the 4506T form. I had already been approved but had not gotten the card when this request was made but turns out it was just ID verification. Best of luck
Thank you very much for your reply, I appreciate it.
