Can you give more detail on your profile? What cc's do you currently have? Util? Baddies ( some CO/CAs not really helpful) if you have a few or a lot and their age?
I have some derogs, 3 CAs, 3 COs that I'm slowly paying down, all of them are a few years old, numerous installment loans that vary in age but all are in good standing. AAoA is either 5 or 6+ years, depending on the CRA. Last CA report was 3yrs +
I have a Walmart and a Care Credit card, 0% util because I haven't used them yet.

I meant all of the CO/CA are about a few years old, the derogs are several years old.

So, you have 2 cc's, installment loans and multiple CA/COs. IMO the first thing you need to do is take care of your baddies, GW - assuming the CA/COs are all within SOL- be careful when approaching the creditors.
Second, your cards are new, to new for Chase ( they want 6 mos- 1 yr of revolving credit) that's assuming you take care of your derogatory credit. Discover may be more lenient but probably not to new credit with current outstanding COs.
Work on getting your bad credit off your report, do not app and let your current cc's age.
Good luck!
IMO +1
You honestly don't have enough credit history combined with the fact of CO's and CA's
Spend some time in the garden while your work on your file and in about 6 month you'll be in much better shape thus increasing your
chances of approvals...More INQ's will simply lower your scores.
If you want a cashback card, I recommed Amex Blue Cash Preferred and Chase Freedom. US Bank Cash Plus is way overrated.

I'm working on it, in small payments. What do you mean be careful, do you mean the baddies or new cards? One of my loans is through Discover also, and all of my loans are in good standing. Do you think that would make a difference with Discover? I app for the Discover version of WM card, got offered store card but that was when my score was much lower. I also have been reading widely varied opinions about INQ and whether or not they drop scores. Is this a ymmv issue?
