As soon as I select Georgia for my state, it comes back and says they are not currently accepting applications. Do they have any national offerings? Or do you have to be in their service area?
i have never tried to apply with them but they are Nebraska based and probably want it to stay local

Their store card is offered on nation wide level. I have their Oversotck MasterCard. I live in California where it is outside of their service area.
I imagine FNBO Direct Visa should also be nation wide, since it is associated with its interenet checking account.

I wonder if the fnbo direct checking would be enough to get the free EX fico?
Nope. You need to have a credit card from either FNBO or its subsidiary, First Bankcard.
The score you get from them comes from a FICO scoring model that puts more weight on credit card performance.
I have an AMEX from FNBO and I'm from MASS . I guess, at least for the AMEX, you need to be invited if your 're not from Omaha.. I think.
FNBO was only one of 2 denials for me this year (amex the other). They sited specifically on RECON the "too many recent INQ" usual babble then i found out that they drawed their conclusion from EXP plus ARS/IDS, an alternative of sorts additional CRA that keeps ID info on you as to your combined applications for Visa/MC etc.
I was trying for the Overstock.com CC. No matter though, i soon afterward was Instantly Approved for (2) 5K SL's from Prime Bank Lenders which took some of the sting out of those wasted HP's ![]()
FNBO are tight as a drum so watch your Recents and/or INQ's before approaching them.
themanwhocan typically does a good review on it, but if you would like an FNBO card, the New York Life Rewards Visa is a good deal:

If you get approved for the Visa Siggy, it's unlimited 1.5% back. However if you get approved for the Platinum Visa, it's only a vanilla 1%. The card also offers a free EX FICO.

If they don't like INQs then they wont like me!
It's a bit much to have to open another checking account without knowing whether or not they would approve the card, and all just for a free FICO score.
Well you'll get opinions otherwise to the contrary but they can be sticklers depending on what day it is LoL The positive side of it is if you do get in with them it's widely reported they are generous with CLI's in somewhat short order. I just am sharing my experience this summer and i don't intent to waste another HP on them anymore without a bonified invitation because it's far more productive and less chancie to approach the Big Primes from my experience after being turned down for just a Store Card Visa by them.
Hah
And they call some of us applicants Risky.
