Re: FYI RE BA 99/500 Unsecuring

I called backdoor # ending in 4696 b/c that’s the# most mentioned in their recent ba unsecured threads.  Had never seen mention of HARD inq w/BA for unsecuring, so was surprised.  rep said ALL unsecure requests MUST be hard pulls.  I did not have them pull (can’t spare any inqs now- need to buy car asap + don’t have fico points to spare), esp. when they said AUTO DENIAL if you have any CA from the past yr.  sounded like old cas (mine are from 03) count b/c they report monthly, so ba’s computers (per the rep- idk if he was clueless?) think they’re ‘new’.  Like I said, I will wait til the 10th stmt hits + hope they auto unsecure me.  If not, will call again.

Did you have the same collection on the your report when you first applied for the secured card an was approved?

Re: FYI RE BA 99/500 Unsecuring

Yeah, the collection has come + gone from my reports, so I was surprised it reappeared (disputing it again).  It sounds like the rep could’ve been wrong from what people have said, so I am going to sit tight until the 10th stmt hits in a few wks + hope it just auto unsecures.  If not, will try another backdoor # and see what happens then.

Would’ve been nice to have it unsecure @ 9th stmt w/o a hard inq, but the rep said no way, no how- we have to pull a hard, so I declined.

When you ask for unsecure a secured card with BOA there will be always a hard inq. No escape from it.

O really i thought i read threads here where people said there was just a soft pull?

Mine unsecured without any pull, though I didn't request for it to be unsecured.

Well if the collection was there when you originally applied for the secured card my thing is i thought they don't evan approve you for the secured card if it couldn't possibly unsecure at some point of time.

Re: FYI RE BA 99/500 Unsecuring

Yeah, I thought the same thing mjb.  I think the rep was not informed…b/c he said the cc is not guaranteed to unsecure + if the collection is there @ the 12 mo. mark, it still will not unsecure.  Just seemed odd, so I was wondering if anyone else had heard this before or if it’s a new ba policy or the rep was clueless?  For now, I am just sitting tight.  BA + all cc accts are in great standing (no new baddies since 03 outside of this reappearing CA), so I don’t see why it wouldn’t unsecure @ some point.
