First off, this is my first attempt at ever doing something like this.
Second off, the CSR (both) had a pretty heavy accent, so I had a hard time understanding.
I called up saying I wanted to close my Rewards card and move the CL to my Ring card.
First rep thought I wanted to move the rewards on my rewards card to the Ring? Weird. Anyway, I couldn't get him to understand.
He then gave me another number to call, I wrote it down, hung up and as I was dialing to call, realized it was the same number! Ha.
Anyway, 2nd rep understood what I wanted to do, and said it's not possible. I (lied) and said "I know it's possible, I have done it before".
She put me on hold and came back saying something like "I understand what you would like to do, and although it is possible if you are a PRIME member, unfortunaly you are not a PRIME member so this can't be done. Actually, I think she said something like "you are a middle member" or something?
Anyway, like I said, I have never attempted to do this, so maybe I went about it the wrong way? I thought Barclays made this easy to do?

What in the world is a prime member? O.o. I would try the recon number listed on this site. 866 something or other. Haven't heard any accent aside from southern when using it so far.
I figured that was my first problem...calling the number on my card!
I shoulda known better.
I'll give em a call Monday.
This might be different, but I was successfully able to move CL from my Ring and move to my Rewards card. My Ring only has $500 on it, but since it's a 8% card I'm not closing it just yet.
So, I don't know why if you're closing your rewards card why they wouldn't move it to your Ring.

You can reallocate. However, both cards have to come from the same family. For instance, I closed my Apple Financing card and reallocated the funds to my L.L. Bean Visa because they were in the same family. I would not have been able to move the line over to an Arrival + card - or so I was told at the time. Call the regular number on the back of the card and ask to be transferred to a credit analyst.

Are you talking about a Visa to a Visa? If that's the case then it not true. I just reallocation my entire limit of my Apple card to the Arrival card no problem whatsoever.

@Anonymous are right @ojefferyo-
Then I stand corrected. As I stated in my reply - "That is what I was told." Glad they don't limit it to the same "family." I was told that since Apple was a branded card I could only transfer the limit to another branded card. It made sense to me at the time and the Apple card was a waste so I didn't argue.

No biggie... Some of the CSRs are ridiculous at these credit card companies when it comes to giving out the right information.
Both my Rewards and Ring are MasterCards. And they're both straight up barclay cards...as opposed to store cards...so, I can't see the family thing being the issue.
The ONLY thing I could think of is that my Rewards card is the "for average credit" one?
I feel like I just got some bad CSR's.
Is the backdoor number appropriate to use in this situation?
