Fed up with HSBC.

I sent them an online message asking them why my account opened in Sept 2007 was not on any of my three credit reports.   They replied that they report to all three CB on a monthly Basis.   I replied I pulled all three of my Credit Reports and as of Feb 15  their card is not on any them. They give me a customer service number to call.   I call the number and after sitting on hold for 10 minutes.   They give me another number to fax a dispute to them.

My question now is should I just close the account or just not use it?  I have heard if you do not use your HSBC card,  they will reduce your limit to make your UTL look bad.   I have gotten my score up to the mid 600s from a low of 489 with just two store cards and a WAMU MC.   I got  the HSBC card hoping two major cards would get me in the 700s by Dec2008.  But there not reporting is not really helping me.

Re: Fed up with HSBC.

Thats weird???

Is it a regular HSBC account or Orchard?

For example on my orchard it says HSBV
For HSBC accounts is says direct merchant bank. Thats on their platinum cards and discover...

Re: Fed up with HSBC.

Give them more time..

Are you paying  all off before they cut statement?

Let one statement carry balance, pif next day after it cuts..

dont close an active, open TL esp since you have such few accounts as it is

Re: Fed up with HSBC.

Yes,  this is a regular HSBC AMEX

And sometimes I do PIF before the statement is cut.

Re: Fed up with HSBC.

I have the same problem. I opened the card the same month 9/07. Nothing reported since Dec. My balances are much lower than then and I do not get the benefit of my score raising because they are not reporting.

That is really bizarre. They are reporting correctly for me.

Re: Fed up with HSBC.

Yes, I too have had the HSBC Amex since July 2007 and it has never reported to any of the CRAs EVER. The only thing that I did see was the inquiry when I applied to their invitation. I just figure... hey, I'll keep my highest balance on this card until they decide to start reporting and it won't affect my utilization.

Re: Fed up with HSBC.

I have two HSBC Orchard useless cards, and they are only good, I find in retrospect, for those establishing or renewing credit.  They are the bottom feeding piranhas in the credit card ecological chain, and feed on the needy, and thus have no time for the worthy.  I only keep them because clsoihg them will hurt my lenght of credit FICO, but otherwise, they would be trash can material in a second.

Re: Fed up with HSBC.

I, too, was very unhappy with HBSC and my orchard card.  I signed up with Credit Keeper which is run by them and they in turn signed me up for something called net market.  They charged me a dollar on my account.  I called net market, who told me I wasn't in there system and I would just have to wait to cancel.  So the first time I call Orchard, it would ring followed by a horrible screaching sound.  After a few minutes of that and no answer, I call back.  This time the static was so bad I could hardly hear the CSR.  He did remove the charge for me but when I asked for something to be done with my accounts since this is the lowest limit, and higest interest rate and higest annual fee.  He checked on a CLi but when he came back on the line, the static was worse and I could only tell he was talking becasue the static got louder. I hung up again and went straight to a supervisor.  They "offered" me 100 more dollars CL for 15 dollars.  I told them to close it and I would be happily cutting up my card and never dealling with anyone associated with them.  This was yesterday and although it felt good, I am wondering what affect it will have on my score.  Either way, I wasn't giving them another 59 dollar fee in August.

Re: Fed up with HSBC.

Congrats for kicking HSBC to the curb-

The effect of closing cards is mostly if UTL takes a hit-
The positive history should remain for 10 years-
IMO- Closing little cards like this can make your other creditors increase your existing lines-
