There is something about competent customer serivce. You don't value it until you need it. What are the credit card companies with best customer serivce? What are the worst ones?
NFCU is excellent. PenFed is above average. Both credit unions use US-based customer service reps.
Chase is excellent if you have a Sapphire card and can deal with a US-based customer service rep, but only average if you have a lesser card. The reps for the lesser cards are based overseas. Even the Sapphire cards transfer your call offshore if you need authorization to make an international internet transaction. (For some reason Chase refused to use Visa International's "verified by Visa" software and developed their own (offshore) capability, probably to save money.)
I used to have Amex and Citibank cards, and I was not impressed by the customer service reps at either issuer in the 2015-2017 time frame. I will say, however, that Amex provided me superb customer service when I really needed it on an international trip in 2012.
Ive only had the card less than 2 months but discover has been good both times I called in. U.S. reps and very polite and helpful. So far anyway.
I've had only good interactions with Chase (the Sapphire line). I've not called since February, but all the previous calls were picked up quick by a person and the people have been pleasant.
NFCU..24hrs US wide.
Discover..US based, very nice, even when you get denied an increase.
BOA..a stickler to getting credit, but I do like their fraud department.
Amex..outsourced CS, but they try to handle my account the best way possible.
BB&T..will call you about transactions, auto freeze your account to prevent fraud. Looser with lending than their sister--SunTrust Bank.
Of the cards I have experience with, Discover and NFCU are both always awesome. Capital One tries, but they just seem so "by the script" and may end up not being very helpful. I feel like Synchrony just doesn't care lol.
Undoubtedly, NFCU, Discover, BMO Harris (Diners Club), and the Chase Sapphire line have been my best experiences.
My worst have been Barclays, Bank of America (extremely long wait times) and PenFed's curt and surly CSRs.
AmEx, Citi, US Bank, Chase non-Sapphire line, and Capital One are average. Synchrony was also average when I had them years ago.
IMO... Discover has had the best CSR's, all have been US based and helpful. In a close 2nd would be Chase, 3rd Citi, and tied for 4th Crapital One and Barclay. Although I don't have to call often, that has been my experience. I'm not in the AmEx cult, so I can't speak for their CSR's, however they used to have a huge call center here and shut it down about 10-15 years ago, they were a major employer here. I have no idea where AmEx calls go to now.
Just a warning about discussing this subject especially w/regards to off-shore call centers so a moderator doesn't have to come and clean up a mess later and send a nasty-gram. Nothing has been crossed yet, you certainly could go that way very quickly as it has many times in the past. Thanks all for being tasteful in advance.

To compare ccc's and their CS the experience with each would need to be the same.
Are you talking about CSR's that can handle certain tasks that other ccc's cannot/willnot?
Policies?
Ease of access to a live person?
