Feel Like a "Pre-Selected" Idiot

I was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday and got my mail. I had noticed that I had not receieved any pre-approved offers in the mail in months. Even the sub-prime cards don't seem to want to send me anything any more.

So I see this envelope. "Instant Acceptance! Online Or On The Phone!". "8.99 percent FIXED!". I'm already skeptical about it. So, I read it an everything looks fine and no yearly fee! I open the offer a bit more and I see that it's from Juniper! I almost jumped out of my chair. I have been trying to get a card from Juniper for about a year and they always turn me down. This was one inquiry I would deal with to get this card lol So I go online and go through everything and you guessed it. They decline me!

At that moment I look down at the acceptance certificate and it says, "Pre Selected!" I'm trying to figure out where "Instant Acceptance" goes alonge wth "Pre Selected".

So, I call myself the idiot today. I got another inquiry on my credit report but you'd better believe me, sick or not I'll be reading ALL of the offer papers the next time.

I guess the one good piece of this is that Juniper sent me an offer? Even if I didn't get it?

A bit of shady wording in the offer letter.

'Pre Selected' just means your name wound up on their list to send offers to.

'Instant Acceptance' means you are immediately approved IF you meet the criteria.

Unfortunately, neither term says you were guaranteed a CC with them. It's a good example why people have so many complaints about the CC industry. No matter how many times you read the fine print one is never quite sure what it all means.

If i were you, i would try a recon. It doesn't hurt to try. You just loose a few $$change$$ in the process

I got a "pre-approved" from a major bank like CITI or wamu, cant remember which one, its been a while. So I get all excited, call and get declined. then 3 months go by and same bank, same letter, I anxiously call to see what they will do for me, and again, declined. I vowed to never take a credit product from them once my scores improved, now I cant remember who it was. They will probably end up being my first prime card.

Sucks man, I been there a few times. Even for auto refi.

It's been said on her time an time again pre approved selected or what ever don't mean you will get approved i think it's just CC gimmicks to get you to apply. I myself have been turned down by pre approvals please don't believe the hype.
