Fidelity Visa Signature CLI Denial -- TransUnion Rapid Default Model 1

I requested a CLI on my Fidelity Visa Signature Card and was denied.  AA leter came and it said the primary reasons are:

  • Maximum monthly revolving spend is too high
  • Too many bankcard accounts

They apparently used the "TransUnion Rapid Default Model Version 1" to determine this and gave me a score of 568 (out of 850).  I had never herd of this score model before, but apparently it is a thing that US Bank is using now based on internet posts I saw.  This card ultimately points to US Bank (Fidelity --> elan --> US Bank), so I guess that is consistent at least.

Not sure how to resolve these reason codes.  I spend 5k+ per month on my cards, but pay them off before the statement / reporting date.  Reported balances are almost always $0 as I follow AZEO.  I guess they are looking at my monthly payments made which are often high.  I am not going to give up using the cards and receiving the cash back from them.  Also, how many bankcards is too many?  I have 8 cards -- all in good standing, and a little over 50k in avaliable revolving credit.  Thoughts???

nothing you can do, just ask every month, assuming it's a SP and wait for it to turn into an approval

It is reached it's 7th month when I tried for the CLI.  TransUnion Fico 8 is 712.  Starting limit was low, only $500.  I put about $111 on it from utility bills on it each month and pay in full before the well before the due date around the 25th of each month.  I got it because I have a brokerage account with Fidelity and was going to use the 2% cash back to build my account holdings.  My initial goal was to put all my utilities and other living expenses on it that I don't get better rewards for, but with only a $500 limit, I have only moved a few bills to it.  I currently use my Navy Federal Flagship for the rest of my bills and get 2% back there, so all is not lost, but it is anoying to have such vague reason codes.

That's an odd reason code too.

Ok, you barely qualified for the card when you got it. They want a track record before they give you more. Keep using it along with your other cards and try in month 13. US Bank is conservative you just need some time wit them.

I didn't know elan was usb. Usb did pull tu on me. I guess I can look forward to the turd when I try cli in four months on my connect card.

My usb connect is $2000, which I thought low. Two months later, they approved me for shoppers at $7000.

I am OK with the denial, I am just confused on their obscure reason codes and how this new TURD works.  I regulary ask for CLI's on my accounts about every 6 months as most people do.  Every AA letter I have recieved when denied has a valid reason, or at least one that makes sense.  But how do you interpit vague codes like "Too many bankcard accounts" or "You don't have a joint account" (as GZG pointed out)?  They just don't make sense.
