The other day I received an email from Final saying they deactivated my card due to suspicious purchase and that they wanted to verify the transactions were mine. They asked for me to send them a copy of a utility bill, copy of my drivers license and a picture of me holding the driver's license and told them that the transactions were mine. Well I sent it all over to them and called them this morning. They said they received it and that they sent it to the card security department and that they were requesting more information about the merchant such as their website address. At this point I balked if the real purpose was to verify the transaction and wanting to know if it is mine then why go on a fishing expedition or the spanish inquisition. They were also asking for details about the transaction. I thought this crossed the line and violated my privacy so i told them to close the account. And she closed it didn't try to save me or resolve the problem. If the purpose of the email was to verify the transactions were mine then why ask for additional information. At that point it was a moot issue in my opinion. I'm aware that they did something similar to another poster on this board. He attempted a transaction of 4,500 with paypal and they denied his transaction. He verified the transaction and 7 days later they closed his account. I don't need a credit card from a company that acts like this. Why issue the card if they aren't going to let you use the card in peace. So please be aware of this lender. Don't need a lender where i have to walk on egg shells. I have better cards issued by big banks and never had Discovercard do something like this.
What kind of transaction and dollar amount were they trying to verify?
SQ* merchant $1k purchase. Transaction was approved but day or two later account was put on hold and asked for verification.
Large transactions to individuals through services like Square or PayPal raise red flags at banks. They are responsible for preventing fraud and money laundering. Some are more sensitive to it than others, but they really are just doing what the law says they're supposed to do.

Thanks for sharing and bringing attention to that just in case.
Don't know much about that card or lender but i did read something similar before.
I once had a Capital One card put on restriction (it was new and only 2nd transaction) until i Faxed them info (D/L etc.) and that took awhile due to a drawed out process and it helped to press hard to get things stepped up faster which it did and i never run into it again.
Is/was your Final Card fairly new with first few transactions or have you had the card awhile?
Have had the card for 6 months. Each statement paid in full until now.

Thanks.
It must have been as mentioned Red Flagged then on the type of transaction.
I'm not familar with the sending through to persons as stated so can't offer any insight as well as others who have.
If the card is shaky I don't want it in my wallet. If i go to use it i want it to go through. This is a shaky card. Anyother big lender as soon as you verified it the card would have been back on. Needless to say I like my cards with Amex, Navy Federal, Discover, etc. No issues with them. Is why i don't limit myself to one lender I keep multiple cards so if one gives me a problem i got another one to use.

Sorry you went through that.
I had a shaky card named Duck card that always declined on the 2nd swipe every time and always had to call in to get it lifted. Only to have to go through it every time afterward. It's a weird story the Duck card.
But yeah, if similar transactions with your other lenders function just fine then you're better off sticking with them.
Oregon Ducks credit card?
