Finally Capital One

I must confirm that at 7:40 pm eastern standard time i finally gave in for a non excellent creditcard and applied for the CapOne Newcomers card. APPROVED... limit 2k, apr 25% no AF.

this has been hanging over my head for a long time and i just could not wait any longer. you might be wondering why did i finally give in before july and wait patiently like i should for capone to go over the data that they have inherited from me from my closed hsbc RZMC accounts?

well i applied for a prime hsbc bank product hoping that would convert to capone, but it will not. hsbc apperently likes my prime credit and wants to hold on to it.

knowing it would be a matter of time before my new account would post and, knowing new accounts negatively affect other approvals, i decided it would be best if i just go ahead and apply for the newcomers card.

so there you have it. i have a capone card now. sort of prime. 2000... thats not too bad. i guess . but the cash rewards, no forex fee, and no af, is not so bad. And another point to make about this card. it might have a 25% purchase apr; but while cap one is bad about customer CLI'S, they have a positive reputation for being quick to offer purchase APR reductions. this is actually almost more important to me as this card has a very high apr. and BEST OF ALL, this card has the best design of all of their cards, except the venture and ventureone card.

hauling, vietvet, etc. and all others who are reading this.

this is my moment within this thread. but i can finally move on.... it has been a long time coming. now i can focus on other things instead of capone.

i am ready to move on. dosen't mean im going away; but finally i can make closure and move on. i am so glad this is over with. happy but sad. bittersweet. disappointed i could not make the ventureone card, but at the same time, i am in finally and this is another seed i can start growing.

CapOne im in. for the first time in my 36 years of living, i have an account with capital one.

Why is that? With your scores i would have tought you could get it....?

Re: Finally Capital One

Congrats!!! I thought you didn't want any Cap1 card.  I have had two Cap1 for over ten years and I haven't gotten any cli since it was opened. I use it once a while to keep it open.

Re: Finally Capital One

i was denied twice last year for this card. reasons were no mortgage as well as too many inquiries. also every time i check credit karma, it always says i only have a fair chance at approval. i have read the reviews for the approvals on all of cap ones excellent cards, and it is ugly! all kinds of individuals appalled just like i have been for being turned down.

other than these two capone denials, since the beginning of 2006, i have never been turned down for new credit based on the preformance of my credit file. i have been turned down yes, but it was due to inaccuracies on my credit file, and once i applied not realizing i was applying, and was also turned down then. sure, i've been turned down for credit limit increases (thanks citi, though you keep sending me new offers ALL of the time).

after much thought and studying all of capone's cards carefully, i knew that the newcomers card is by far the best deal i could possibly grab. because not only is it giving me starting prime limit, but cash back and no forex fees. that means if i want to buy a product from a european website that doesn't take diners club, i can use this card so i won't end up being charged a whopping 3% fee. and in addition to this, this is the only card that capone directly offers that has NO annual fee other than venture one and cash rewards. so not only is this card a cash rewards card, but it is so without a fee.

and i think they call it newcomers card on purpose, because i think they may not want too many people to apply for this as it offers cash rewards without the fee in addition to offering a half way decent starter prime limit for me.

Re: Finally Capital One

ron! you haven't been reading my other posts! i have been very vocal about this before. i realize i have been confusing some members because my sig suggested otherwise.

when my sig. stated still no CapOne card in my wallet, true i am playing with the pun, but i also mean i have been waiting a long time to finally add cap one to my wallet. i am also suggesting that i am frustrated with capone for turning me down twice last year.

Yes, I agreed.  You might want to get a credit union in the future. It won't be bad.

Re: Finally Capital One

Well, its official, for anyone who has been reading my posts, i now have a CapOne in my wallet. not even sockdrawered. im going to use this and my blue cash ev. as my active wallet profile. blue cash mostly for groceries, and cap one for everything else. i WONT ever carry a balance on this card UNLESS they offer me a 0 to 11% apr balance transfer, or until i can upgrade or reduce my purchase apr to less than 16 percent apr.

CapOne Cash Rewards Platinum 2k 24.9 purchase apr. (known as newcomers, please its the same platinum cash rewards card they have offered before but now with a jacked up interest rate.

the major upside to this newcomers card is you can be approved for it even if you have no credit history, but you have to have zero negatives as well.
