Re: FingerHut Credit Card

I just called and closed my account too. I opened a Navy credit card on January and still hasn't reported, don't want two "new" accounts at the same time. I was on the verge of closing it anyways, I hated how they always gave me "temporary CLI" where they give me X amount and could only increase permanently if I use that new increase to make a purchase. They even reported those increases to the bureaus, and later when they expired, they came and updated again with the original limit so it was changing every 4-5 month. Very scummy.

Re: FingerHut Credit Card

Was on the fence on this as its my oldest reporting trade line (2014) and now the oldest is end of 2020, YIKES!!! But, certainly don't want a new trade line on my reports, also they continued to lower my CL anyhow so who cares (3,800 to 1,000 in the end). Was never late, barely used it as they charge me double for shipping because I live in PR (yup, standard shipping + international shipping). Simply isn't worth it now. My report may take a ding now because of the average age but I now have a PenFed Cash Rewards card so I will just work on keeping the limit low and age my accounts. Fingerhut isn't worth it at this stage for me.

Re: FingerHut Credit Card

I just closed my Fingerhut account also.  It was a quick phone call.  Took only ten minutes.  Had it for the past 5 years but its been at a zero balance for the past two years.  I don't need the $1500 CL for utilization anymore since I'm almost finished rebuilding my credit. I should have closed it years ago.

Re: FingerHut Credit Card

This is the type of account that's just as helpful closed as it is open. I think most customers can close at any point.

Re: FingerHut Credit Card

I called and closed mine too. I bought a few things first, to be paid off over the next 6 months, so we'll see how it plays out on my credit reports. Either way, I have no complaints about my overall experience with Fingerhut. They gave me an unsecured line of credit (and 3 auto CLI) when nobody else would. The fact that we're parting ways now speaks to how far I've come in one short year. I now have 3 solid revolvers and a good SSL to show for my due dilligence, and I'm very ok with that!

I just received the email also today and I hate it because Webbank has been good to me with this account and my Dell account. I wonder which bank will be taking over this account? Im really thinking about just closing this account because I dont need a new trade line on my credit right now as im still in rebuilding stage.

I went ahead and closed this account, it only took about 5 - 10 mins. After getting my Cap. One Walmart Credit Card with a $3,000 limit and Lowes card with a $5,000 limit I feel this account has severed it's purpose but I will always be grateful to Fingerhut for giving me a 2nd chance.

Re: FingerHut Credit Card

Just closed my Fingerhut today.  9+ year old account.  On the bright side, it was the smallest CL in my portfolio
