Fingerhut cld

a while ago i received a cli from 1600-2600. the 1000 cli was conditional. the condition was if i spent a portion of the 1000 it would become part of my permanent limit. i only buy items i really need from fingerhut because their prices are high but they have helped me immensly on my rebuild and serve a place for that.

I really only needed a new GPS since my old one was over 10 years old and a little useless. I bought a top of the line garmin which i am very happy with, it has all the bells and whistles.

Needless to say after shipping the cost was 350, i dont need a lecture of how much cheaper i could have got it elsewhere. anyway by the end of the promotion i had only spent that 350 so i got a cld to 1950,

2600-1950

Re: Fingerhut cld

Don't feel bad OP they do this all the time.  They recently gave me a "temporary" increase of $400 provided I spend it.  No I'm good and they can keep it.

Re: Fingerhut cld

I wouldn't worry about it, I used to get those offers too but ignored them. Now they're threatening to close my account, I can't wait till they do. They're great as a stepping stone but not worth it after establishing other credit accounts.

Re: Fingerhut cld

The only use for a card like this is to get other, better cards in the near future-and then drop it like a bad habit.  The credit line is irrelevant...you don't want to actually buy stuff from these crooks.

I dont charge much on it, it was and is a positive tradeline for my rebuild. the limit is useful in padding overall utilization.

Re: Fingerhut cld

I honestly would work on the Discover card. I'm not sure how often you're using your other store cards, but if you put that spend on your Discover card instead, you may get more Disco increases. I'd say do the same with Capital One, but they don't grow as much. But, you're still better off trying to grow Disco or Cap1 than a store card.

The good thing is that if they close your card, you'll still have that card's history for 10 yrs. Good luck whatever you do.

most of those store cards have a zero balance. i have a small balance on fingerhut and use the target a lot. last week i got an upgrade and a really nice cli from cap 1 , 300-1800 and upgrade to qs no af, and thats only after 5th payment. i use the disco a lot, especially this first year with the double cb. i'm not doing bad, my tu9 is 698, and my other fico's are 670's-680's except tu8 which sags at 657. i only have exactly 1 year of rebuild under my belt and i have a 3k disco and a 1800 qs after i burned cap 1 for 5k in my bk7. not too shabby.

If you knew my balances you would see most of my spend is on disco and cap 1.

Now if i was to dump all my other cards and just keep disco and cap 1 my utilization would be sky high and my scores in the toilet, padding padding padding..

edit-ps, my disco is only 5 months old, i dont think a cli will be soon plus i used the 14 month at zero bt offer to transfer some moderate balances. plus last month disco gave me until sept 2022 with zero interest for purchases so my balance on that card is moderate. i pif the cap 1 every month.

Re: Fingerhut cld

I only post here to add to the community . perhaps a beginner is thinking about fingerhut and as many dp's they can read the better so they can make their own personal decision. i didnt post this thread as a gripe, i posted it as general information about a fingerhut account for interested parties.

Re: Fingerhut cld

Don't consider that as a CLD, it's really a CLI of $350. It was going to go back to $1600 anyway unless you purchased something. I get that increase offer a couple times a year, I ignore it and my original limit is restored in 30 days. I don't consider it a CLD. I use this card once a year and get the cheapest thing on the site, usually a t shirt for like $10.
