Firestone Card - Charge Off and Reapplying

So I had a Firestone card that I let get charged off. I have been working with the department that handles it and settled directly with them for about 50% of what was due. I payment in one lum sum. So I asked the rep if I could reapply now that the charge off was paid and my scored were higher.

she stated that you can reapply for a card with them if you have a charge off 6.5 years after the date of the charge off. **bleep**! Thats a long time to be blackballed. But its good information so you dont waste a hard pull.

I know not all credit cards are like this because I have a new Cap 1 account less than 2 years from my charge off with them of TWO accounts.

Just makes me wonder how many credit cards operate under that model. Hope this info helps someone.

BTW The Credit Frist A customer service is A+. Easy to deal with and very professional. I was able to talk about my account without feeling like a loser and was able to settle for a reasonable amount with haggling.

Congrats on  being able to negotiate.  Unfortunately not every lender is like Cap One who one could burn and a month later get a card. Most lenders you will either be blacklisted for quite some time or ss you saw, need to wait a few years to reapply. Thanks for sharing your story. Be safeSmiley Happy
