First Premier CLI

I called first premier yesterday for a credit limit increase....They said they will submit my request do they recheck my credit or do they look ay my payment history with them? I have the same 300CL with them for over 2 years with no late payments. Do they often given credit limit increases?

Re: First Premier CLI

Hello,

From my experience, they do not do a hard inquiry, they only look at payment history. I would only anticipate a $100 increase, and they will charge you for it...they charged me $25. As I was rebuilding my history, I only did it because of utilization.

First Premier is crappy, but hang in there because they helped to to start getting better ccs.

Re: First Premier CLI

Don't know much about First premie except their apps saw a lot of shred time when I was rebuilding.  hopefully you will have other cards soon that don'tdo ridiculous things such as charge for CLIs

First premie's monthly fees make them a definite no in my book.  HAve you tried Orchard, Junny and Household?  Orchard and household may have an annual fee but usually lessthan all the crap First Premie adds on.  I actually read it anddid without.  Maybe not the smartest thing to do but I am an admitted cheapskate.

Unfortunastely it is true, once jacked by HSBC you are jacked!!! I didn't go over but kept seeing my rate go up on my household bank card and they could offer no explaination and wouldn't lower it.  So I closed it.

Re: First Premier CLI

From my experience with first preimer they are stingy with credit limit increases despite what their program says...The will find any excuse not to increase you. I've been with them since 2003 and was only to get an increase 2005.

Now on the orchard I started with 300 limit and they have consistently raised by limit 200.00 every couple of months and its 1100.00 in 2 years.

I posted earlier about 1st preimer and I like brammys comments, "Get out of the pool of sharks!"
I've been working on my fico and I feel inspired to apply for something better.

I'm glad we have these forums... Smiley Happy

Re: First Premier CLI

Ash you are definitely right about that.  If you keep your utilization low and consistantly pay more than minimums with Household, you will be rewarded with CLIs.  I was getting 300.00 every three or four months up til a mistake was reported on my bureaus. Started with a 300.00 limit and ended with 1450.00 before I closed.  I would have kept that card forever had it not been for the ratejacking because I would have found no reason to go out and educate myself on the world of credit.

I will add though, they got me back by offering a super cash back card that I couldn't say no to...lol!!!

First Premier's policy is $100 CLI per year. They will give the first one after the first 6 months and then every year thereafter so long as you never miss a payment, go over limit, etc. They will charge you $25 for each increase however, just as they charge for everything. I had my first card with them for over 2 years before asking for a CLI and they gave me $200.

I just closed out 3 cards with them. They cost me a lot of money over the years, but they helped me get my score up, so I for that I am grateful, but would not recommend them to anyone unless your scores were like mine in the beginning (485). Not many places that will help you at that point. Now I am mid 600s and not looking back. Good luck!
